Cordless phones advice please!

We need to install another telephone in the house, and should also replace a second, very old one. We would like one of those you can take around with you -I believe they are called cordless. There are thousands of models, but I do know some of them do not work i.e.: get cut off, make noises, don't charge properly, etc. We would, of course, want to buy a cheap but reliable model. Looks do not matter. I do not know where to start. Does anyone have any advice on the matter?
Thank you so much!!

you must get a digital one or the sound quality will be poor.
I've got BT synergy 3105 that I'm happy with.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages, student & coronavirus Boards, money saving boards. I've always bought BT phones as the quality is excellent. Argos often have special offers on cordless phones. Or you can look on Ebay, which is where I got mine at about a third of the shop price. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -

Great service and excellent after sales if you have a problem within 12 months0 -
Make sure its a DECT digital phone as some analogue ones have digital answer machine and you could be mistaken that the handset is digital, if its got an old fashioned pull up ariel on it (like a radio) then it will be a analogue one , stay away from those0

Not all BT phones are of excellent quality, some are very poor, depends on who the actual manufacturer is.
I do have 2 BT phones one DECT cordless and one corded, these are pretty good, I couple of other BT ones were rubbish and I got my money back on those ones. My current DECT I bought 'refurbished' as I need a DECT that was loud enough on both hands-free and normal, and the hands-free was full duplex, not cutting in and out like the one BT phone I had, I also needed the phone to have Caller Display on waiting call, as I use VoIP and therefore have free caller display and free call waiting, but it's pointless having a caller display phone if it doesn't display the number of the waiting call, many don't.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -

These are the people I bought my DECT phone from, though through their eBay shop as it worked out £5 cheaper. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... Don't forget to leave one corded phone on the line which doesn't need a power supply. Otherwise you'll have no telephone during a power cut.
Have a look at this:

Depends on your telecom provider and where the power cut is.
For me as I only use VoIP even with corded phones I still need mains power for my router, so if the electricity trips in the house or the street/area has a power cut, I lose telephone service.
For people on Telewest even with a corded phone if the street/area has a power cut then they lose the phone service too as the cabinets in the street don't have any power-back up.
For people on BT lines then even in a power cut to the area as long as the exchange back-up power doesn't fail you will still have a phone service. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc...
