I'd vote for BT phones as well - have had a pair of Synergy 3505s for a few years now. Replaced the (AAA NiMH) batteries with higher-capacity ones to extend the stand-by time - no problems with use or charging.

    Hi,

I am looking for a new cordless phone. Main requirement is caller display although if there is a feature to automatically ignore anonymous calls that would be great also.

Also considering a pair of phones too as I might need one for upstairs.

Any good phones going at a good price?

    Thanx

    Hello AMO

I think your thread will get more views and responses in the 'Home Phones' board, so I'll move it across for you.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.

    Regards

Depends on your telecom provider and where the power cut is.

For people on BT lines then even in a power cut to the area as long as the exchange back-up power doesn't fail you will still have a phone service.

I think the point being made was - you need mains power for your cordless base station: no power there, no phones working fed from that base station.
As you correctly say most exchanges are battery backed-up, but you will need a conventional plug in phone to work with that.
