I ahve found A&E top class the odd time I have been in there, not sure about those overpaid and underworked GP's.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0

I agree, I just found it funny some tried to push that it was a very quick process.
The service can vary on the injury and the hospitals. But they are their for the good of the people and supply a necessary service.
I am sure they would love to turn everyone around in 30 mins but in reality we never have and never will be at that point.
The funny point when I broke my hand was that after they found out it was a break they could not do anything as the people who need to manipulate it and plaster it were not in until the next morning.
So I went home exactly the same as I went in.:) (But them's the breaks, literally. Just glad to know it would be sorted.:))0 -

i actually don't see what the problem is with this. having something in your eye is not a medical emergency and it should wait whilst people with bones sticking out are seen.....
I didn't realise you were in the medical profession.
That must explain your unswerving devotion to all things labour."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."

Ah I remember on a thread the other day.
Their OH must be such a disappointment.:)Having something in your eye is not a medical emergency and it should wait whilst people with bones sticking out are seen.....fabrication welding. 7am - 5pm everyday in a workshop. fumes, dirt, noise, heat, physically demanding. been to hospital more than once this year to have small fragments of metal removed from eyes that the goggles / mask failed to stop.
Personally I see like your OH case eyes in general are an emergency, as once they are damaged they can rarely be repaired back to full function.
I think it may be more to do with the peoples political leanings than the injury sustained.0 -

wow you're sad trolling though old threads. but just to clarify. my OH didn't got to A&E. tried the drops for a few days in each case and then went to doctor and referred onto eye hospital. Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0 -

Luckily my GP is excellent, and local A &Es, variable. what is excellent are the two minor injury/accident bits at two local community hospitals. No doctor, just nurses doing dresses, removing splinters.p..the kind of thing our mums might have done themselves and mums now are told to seek advice for. I've been really impressed with them.
also, one of them has on of the private enterprise within the NHS type treatment centres...radiography, some ops, smeinvestigations....and it is superb. Really amazingly superb. Clean in the extreme, the staff seem motivated to help and I have been overwhelmingly impressed.0 -
Can I just say on a serious note here.I didn't know what was inside the glow sticks(You know the things that you press and they glow in the dark) they have powdered glass inside them.had I known this I would never have bought them for the party.I would not let my daughter have these now and she was so scared at the time that she will not go near them anyway.just a little note of caution.0
