Guess who is not voting Lib Dem next election

Negotiating with another party is not the same as throwing away the core policies of your party. I didn't vote for the Lib Dems simply so they could be in power, I did vote for the Lib Dems because I thought they could do good things with the power.
As I said to Nick Mason before the election, while I agree with Liberal (Not, not Liberal Democrat) policies like electoral reform, I vote for education, social policy, nuclear policy and health care policy. Probably in that order. I am also particularly upset that they abandoned 600,000 people who had been living in britain for a decade, simply because it was politically expedient.
I do not believe this agreement reflects my core values as a former Liberal Democrat voter.
What did you expect from negotiations? You must surely accept that somethings had to go? The Lib/Dems must now be in the most powerful position they have been for in years with a chance to get at least some of their policies put into action. You must accept that the country did not turn to them in the election and that Labour are just as opposed to PR as the Tories. What did you want to happen then? For them to say unless you adopt all our ideas we will not support you and then for the tories to go it alone and nothing get done? That would have been a disaster for our country, would have brought about another general election and then all the parties would have been engaged in fighting that rather than sorting out our horrendous debt and other issues. As things stood the Lib/dems were never going to get into power, this way they have.I am looking forward to best of the Lib/Dem combined with the best of the Tories and the worst bits from both left out. When in life do we all get everything we want or would wish for.0 -

So who are you going to go with from now ?
Green ?"There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."

I'm going to repeat myself for the last time... the Liberal Democrats have abandoned the policies I personally as a voter most care about, in order to get things past that I as a voter least care about, and so I as a voter, won't be voting for them again next election.
There. You can disagree with me, you can think these policies are great. I've already said some areas where I think the agreement is right, but on balance I can't vote for it.Spartacus_Mills wrote: »So who are you going to go with from now ?
Green ?
I am not sure at the moment. I think it may be necessary to start a new party.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

I think you might be losing your deposit!0 -
And that matters in what way? If most people don't agree with what I think, I might lose my deposit, but I am still entitled to fight for it. And to say what I believe in.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

But you will never change anything that way, you will just make yourself feel better by standing up for what you think is right, and of course you have every right to do that. I do not have any personal political convictions, I just believe in fairness for all and that those who need help should get it but also that those that work hard should not be penalised for doing so.There is too much envy in this country.Someone posted the other day about advice for getting a swimming pool for the garden and some people made sarcastic comments.Michael Caine once made a very good comment, he said that when he was a kid he was walking down the street with his dad and a man drove past in a Rolls royce and he thought to himself, one day I will get one of those,
nowadays he said, the kids think, I'd like to run a bunch of keys down the side of that car.
I don't have a swimming pool or a Rolls Royce but good luck to those that do.0 -

I do not agree with you but I do admire your principles."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."

To be honest he seemed the only one with anything between his ears, odd character though.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. Of course everyone has a right to their views, but if everyone sticks to their 'principles' doggedly and does not give and take that gets no one anywhere, that is the whole point of negotiation.0 -
