Firstly, a big thank you to the people that have posted about this particular company and the WAN**R that has been ripping people off! I too had a start date of the 14th June and had planned to have a couple of weeks off first after my finishing date of the 28th May. Sooo glad I found all this out last night, had a nervous few hours this morning to find out if I could take back my notice as my employer had already offered my job to somebody. Luckily for me, my employer has let me stay, I never parted with a deposit but was going to at the end of the month! Ive spoken with Juliet this morning and have been informed that Mark is behind bars! She also knew my address off my name as they had intercepted the post to his address. Lets all just hope and pray that everybody gets told in time and nobody else has to suffer and the heartlessness of this pri*k! Cant believe that at my interview I told him I was getting married and he even offered to do the wedding cars as a gift!!! Luckily all that was sorted but just shows you what a horrible smarmy Bast**d he is! I hope he gets a lot of bum love in prison numerous times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He can't be behind bars if hasn't been convicted and sentenced by a court. He may have been arrested by the police, but he could only be held by the police for 36 hours.

Correct, but what's to stop them charging him and putting him before a court and applying for him to be remanded in custody? Risk that he might abscond? Seriousness of the offence/Likely sentence? fear for his safety?

The expression "locked up" has a number of meanings only one of which indicates imprisonment.

The bottom line is that it would seem that the people concerned are being dealt with.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com
  • Enjoy my £100.00 you scumbag,If only i had listened to my better judgement? I hope all the people who's handed in their notice get to keep their jobs,as its not the £100 uve taken its their lives you have destroyed. You will get everything you deserve.
PS ENJOY THE SHOWERS AND PICKING UP THE SOAP.
  • It's not just the 100 which luckily we didn't pay as I kept questioning it, it's the embarrassment and total humiliation people now feel, my partner has told people about this fantastic job. couldn't believe his luck after so much bad luck, now we have to face the embarrassment of telling our friends and family what happened. We went shopping at the weekend and spent money on suits and shirts which will have to be returned (more of our precious time). My partners self confidence has plumeted he's got a migraine today and looks so ill (all stress related) his boss was very sympathetic and allowed him to keep his job but he hates his job, he took it in first place as a job is better than no job but what 32 year old wants to be earning NMW. It's the thought of facing the whole job hunting thing again and interveiws blah blah blah. Mr Shortland had the cheek to say to him "How will you feel if you are sucessful in gaining the post" My partner replied "Ecstatic" Shortland must get off on that, I hope he go's down for a long time and regulary drops the soap in the showers

Well I rang her on Tuesday and she still hasn't returned our call.....

I feel sorry for all the people who still don't know it's a scam and probably won't realise until 14th June, and I'm disgusting with the jobcentre they all want sacking!

    Hi there
I too got the job & handed in my notice, I'm due to leave on Friday, this scumbag should rot!! I sent a cheque for £100 but luckily had time to stop it being cashed, I spoke to (supposedly) Mark Shortland a week ago as I had some concerns and he assured me about everything, he is a professional crook and don't know how he sleeps at night!! I have informed the police in Manchester and the Manchester Evening News who are following it up also, hopefully I will be able to stay on at my job, fingers crossed but really feel for those poor !!!!!!s who have all left theirs thinking they were moving on to a new and exciting venture!!

Yes Joanne I agree. I think it is a joke that this company were allowed to advertise on the jobcentre plus website.

Just joined up as I found out only yesterday that this was a scam. The alarm bells have been ringing for a couple of weeks and thankfully I'd put off sending the money to as late as possible.

The real problem I had was that I was advised that the only thing the job centre apparently check, although I have no idea exactly how they would satisfy their queries, is that a company advertising with them 'positively supports deversity and equality in the work place'. I guess that's true tho...EVERYONE was offered the job and EVERYONE was given the opportunity to be scammed!!! Now that is equality for you!!

The jobcentre, as we all know, is a government body and as such, I feel that there should be more done to protect potential job searchers from this kind of act. If it's advertised on a government website you expect there to be some sort of assurance. As a result of this, we have all sent our full identities to this man. DOB, National Insurance details....the works. What if, as a side venture, Mark Shortland sells off people's details to others who specialise in ID theft!?!?

The possibility for our lives to be turned upside down as a result of this man's plans and the jobcentre's inability to screen 'employers' could lead to many of our personal lives to be tainted for some time to come.

I am a 'glass half full' kind of guy but I am also a realist and it really doesn't take much thought to imagine exactly what could happen, even with this scheming con man behind bars, or as he is currently, remanded in custody!

My thoughts to all, I'm sure there were many out there just like me who were already planning on how to spend the wages. I've just had to go into an estate agents and cancel two viewings for this evening of houses we planned to buy. My partner's been so supportive throughout all this and to say this has reduced me to tears over the last 24 hours is an understatment. I'm a very confident person, anyone who knows me would agree, but right now I'm like one big raw nerve. A 28 year old bumbling wreck! A little over the top? Maybe! Understandable? I think so.

    Onwards and upwards!!!

    Rant over,
    x
