hi there,
is there any one out there that has heard of nwdservices they are a chauffer company based in sheffield , they have many offices , a friend of mine went for a interview and got the job< well done to him> but they want a retainer of £100 before he starts work which isnt a lot of money but when you dont have it thats a lot of money they say <nwd services> that they would offset the money with 1% optinal share in the company after 90 days ... so is there any one out there that has used there service or has heard on the grape vine about this company as the job if true is a real good oppirtunity

Hi, Gaylee. My partner also had interview last week and has been offered a job. Can i ask if your friend got the job through the job centre, thats where we saw it and I presume because of that it must be legit? But i am also trying to find out if its a genuine job. The company is registered. I thought about checking them out with the office of fair trading. Where will your friend be based and when is he due to start

The company was only formed in October 2009 and although it uses the name Nationwide Chauffeur Services Ltd the actual name shown under the company's registration number shown on the website is Nationwide Web Services Ltd based at 54, Edward St Flats, Sheffield, S3 7GG.

Elsewhere on the website the company name is given as Nationwide Services Ltd which is a company from Essex now in liquidation so I think that is probably just a typo.

The website is registered to an individual from Sheffield who would seem to have connections with the private hire/taxi trade.

Standard con. Get in people who really need a job, tell them that they have the job but they have to pay a deposit or fee. Then sod off where nobody can find you.

Bear in mind that the person you met may or may not have been from Nationwide Chauffeur Services Ltd - the company could be a victim of corporate identity theft.

ive also been offered a job at this company,start date 14th june at castle donnington...tried too check them out and all sems to add up apart from the fact that ive never chauffered b4, so have no experiance and as far as i know they avnt done any checks on me..was all too easy and quick for my likeing and they are gonna give a me £70k car to drive!!

Don't you have to take a specific test for chauffering like taxi drivers do?
I would make sure they are licensed and insured to carry fare paying passengers because if your husband is pulled up it is his responsibility to make sure it's all legal. Make sure if there is any damage to the vehicle they don't hold your husband responsible and take money from his wages or the retainer money, they may also have to have public liability insurance. I think it's a lot more complicated than putting a suit on and driving a posh car.
There must be a headquarters where all the cars are stored and the drivers report to, has he seen this?

delnstan thats the location and date my partner has been offered! I guess until we research it further we wont know if its genuine. Might ring job centre for more advice

sunshaeen, i was told that they were setting 8 drivers on, 4 on days and 4 on nights to drive 4 new cars...i have checked out nationwide services with companies house and it says the company is in liquidation ! the post code where u send the acceptance letter back to is actaully another road in sheffield and not the address shown on the letter and website.they are also advertising for drivers in newcastle job centre at present, but they dont have any officers near to that area...this still needs more investigating before we all send them 100quid..

I would ask the job centre to investigate this, they shouldn't be using the JC to get potential employees and then asking for money, it does sound like a scam unfortunately. Hope it gets sorted soon...

yes delnstan that is the same thing they told me partner. I have seen the advert for newcastle also, i have rung the number about 20mins ago and someone answered and was quite proffesional ( i just said i wanted to know website for a quote!) He told my partner that they were looking for drivers from areas near to each other to share the car!

just to add it was only advertised at my job centre for a couple of days and got interview about an hour after e-mailing application form
