  • I have just had to relay this infomation to my partner and he is GUTTED! Sounds same as most peoples story saw job in Jobcentre, applied on line, phone call 20 mins later offered an interveiw at Regus, Castle Donnington. Went for the interveiw for 12/05/10 was told instantly "well you have passed the first 2 stages of the interveiw, your on time and wearing a suit" I guess to let him know he was in with a good chance, they even showed him the Shiny 7 series BMW in the car park. They told him he would know on Monday but 2 letters dropped on the mat on Saturday 1 was the acceptance letter and the 2nd was the contract. I was a little suprised there was no verbal offer first, but went through the contract and all sounded o.k, although working in payroll 2 things struck me 1) The salary said £30000 per annum but £15 an hour, which dosent equate correctly £30000 per annum is £14.79 per hour, but passed this off as rounding up. I questioned my partner about the £100 retainer he explained what the guy had told him how they couldn't make illegal deductions from people pay, true, but if you signed something giving permission for the money to be taken out your first pay packet then that would be o.k.
I posted this last Mondey but my partner said he couldn't pay the £100 until end of May when he gets paid, which was fine with Mark Shortland. Anyway I had a few queries later like, What is the dress code? And where and who should he report to on first day 14th June 2010? so we emailed Mark, no reply, and now smell a rat and thank god I googled them this morning and came accross this.....my next call is the jobcentre, they should check out jobs that are being advertised through them.

    Pixidoll,

It's unlikely thst the man behind this con has been arrested, charged, gone to trial, been convicted and sent to jail in the short space of time this con has come to the attention of the authorities. Please reveal your sources.

Can't believe this scam...my husband also went to Portland House, Mcr and was offered the job to start on the 14th June...He has been chasing them for the contract and reciept for weeks. He also replied to the job centre plus advert who you would think would check out the companies they are posting. It's mind boggling how selfish, cruel and greedy some people can be. They are listed on Cylex Uk business directory as nationwide chauffuer services with the Ecclesall Road address which is one of the checks we initially did to check it out. The sad thing is he got offered this and another job at the same time and he turned the other one down in favour of this one, and nwdservices new this! Heartless BLEEPS!

What are you supposed to do when you get offered a job, ask so many questions that your prospective employer starts to question if they've done the right thing offering you the job!!??

Glad that South Yorkshire Police are being so proactive by posting on here shame Nottinghamshire Police are not as helpful.

Firstly, a big thank you to the people that have posted about this particular company and the WAN**R that has been ripping people off! I too had a start date of the 14th June and had planned to have a couple of weeks off first after my finishing date of the 28th May. Sooo glad I found all this out last night, had a nervous few hours this morning to find out if I could take back my notice as my employer had already offered my job to somebody. Luckily for me, my employer has let me stay, I never parted with a deposit but was going to at the end of the month! Ive spoken with Juliet this morning and have been informed that Mark is behind bars! She also knew my address off my name as they had intercepted the post to his address. Lets all just hope and pray that everybody gets told in time and nobody else has to suffer and the heartlessness of this pri*k! Cant believe that at my interview I told him I was getting married and he even offered to do the wedding cars as a gift!!! Luckily all that was sorted but just shows you what a horrible smarmy Bast**d he is! I hope he gets a lot of bum love in prison numerous times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi to everyone on the forum.
South Yorkshire police and Gtr Manchester police have been extremely helpful, anyone with any info on this slime ball needs to contact them ASAP.
It is terrible to hear of other cases where people have given in their notice - i hope they manage to keep their jobs.
