i too have been scammed by mark shortland at nationwide chauffeur services having had my interview at castle donington on the 13th may and received a letter which was dated 9th may.
i have handed over £100 plus handed my notice and was looking forward to my new job on the 14th june has it was after my wedding and it would have been good start to married life.
i have made a complaint with notts police and i see them in the morning to give a statement.

I attended an interview in manchester the same day I rang them, I was interviewed by Mark and a blonde woman. I cant remember her name but she told me she was a company director, earlier on this forum somebody mentioned he had no accompliss and and he used temps he hired to help with interviews, obviously that is not the case as she must of been in on it too to introduce herself as a director. They told me I would get 3 tailor made suits, a mobile phone, a fuel card and that I would be driving people like Simon Cowell about town. Monday came and I receieved no phone call, then a week later received a letter as previously mentioned, wrote as if I had wrote it. The letter said I accepted their job offer and gave me bank details for the £100. Couple of days later I received the contract which was written for a factory and still nothing clicked. I received a call that day from somebody asking me to pay the £100 as they had not yet received it, I told him I would pay the folowing day while I had a pupil on a driving test (im a driving instructor) and asked him what would happen about picking the car up etc for my first day. He told me Mark would be in touch, which obviously never happened. Luckily I never paid the £100 only because I forgot but when I realised I hadnt paid it and was due to start the coming monday the 14th june I went to pay but again luckily I lost the details. I tried to call to get the details, no answer. I then tried the website, gone........Alarm bells. That was when I found this site. We are gutted, I am self employed driving instructor so still have my job but I have let all my pupils go plus me and my wife have 2 young boys, the youngest is 5 weeks and we had big plans for the money. We have booked florida for next year and bought a sofa on finance, wont be going to florida and deposit lost and we will now skint ourselves paying for a sofa we cant afford. The guy is scum!!!!!.......any body know who I need to call at Manchester police?

I spoke to Juliet at Sheffield Police today she has loads of people to work through due to the intercepted post and is compiling a list for his prosecution. The phone number is on an earlier post.

i too have been affected by this man Mark Shortland and his scam, i am going to wake up monday morning jobless as i was a driving instructor in nottingham and gave it all up to start this bogus job.

i have just seen the police from nottingham a PC Hodson (PC-2801) who is working with south yorkshire police to collate as much info about this scam as they can.

i have also spoken to the nottingham evening post who have confirmed my story and spoken to various police press offices and have confirmed that a man has been arrested and let out on bail due to not enough info concerning this scam.

please please if you want this man caught and prosecuted get in touch with your local police get as much infro as you can and lets get this man charged if you live in nottingham call notts police and ask for PC 2801 Hodson and if your in yorkshire call their police and ask to speak to DC Juliet Faram.

Thats insane, how can they not have enough info on this scam, surly theres records of his bogus job adverts kept in the job centres up and down the country and all the people that have reported him to the police, he's recked lives, taken hundreds of pounds yet theres not enough to put him behind bars....madness

Dear old Mark Shortland`s name raises its ugly head again.

This guy is a serial fraudster and not just involved in the offences which are subject of this thread.

The last I knew of his current status from the CPS is that he is on remand awaiting trial.

What I fear is that because of the amount of time he has spent in custody awaiting trial if he pleads or gets found guilty he may well walk straight out of the court a free man as the time he has spent in custody will be taken into consideration against the prison sentence given.

Sorry I can`t divulge more at this stage but, needless to say, this guy is scum and has ruined many a persons day.

I would endorse what has been said previously, if you have experience of him carrying out a fraud against you please contact the police and make a statement.

The more solid a case the police have the more likely he will plead guilty at court or, if he persists with a trial, the heavier the sentence he will get if found guilty.

the pain and misery this pig is causing is so serious.
maybe we should all concentrate on involving the police,our local M.P(it all seemed genuine BECAUSE he used the job centre connection) our local papers.
we can't save outselves but at least spread the word to as many others as possible.

I am from Liverpool and i have also been scammed by Mark Shortland..
I handed my notice in at my job and now unemployed due to this guy.
Also due to the stress of this scam happening to me i have now lost the sight in my right eye and awaiting a date from the hospital.
When i went for my interview there was more than 30 other names on his interview list for that date...
I wonder how many where sent acceptance letters aswell as myself..
Very professional set up.
I have made a statement at my Local police station and have now contacted south yorks police also..
I did find out also that some other people paid more than £100 to this guy from the security gaurd at the place the interviews where held at.
He told me numerous people had been in looking for the company before i went last monday...
Send this guy to prison and try and get our money back...
