Find a missing person

This thread is getting much more viewers than the one on the I wanna board.
Can't you be charitable to this lady who is obviously worried sick and needs as much help as we can give her. If you really must move it, could you move it very slowly (perhaps in a few days) just to give us all chance to help her out? Please?
Also your signature wasn't very empathetic, was it? This poor lady's ex husband went on holiday and hasn't been heard from since, and you are asking "When is the next holiday?".
To just put the record straight, Nile moved the thread from the I Wanna board to this board so the threads could be merged (as they have) and the answers received would not be lost because the thread on I Wanna was dropping down the boards.
As always if you have a problem with any action taken you should email [Removed by Forum Team] instead of arguing on a thread.
It would now be more helpful if the thread continues on trying to help the OP0 -

I have searched on https://www.192.com and found a J Dickinson in Poulton Le Fylde. There is a telephone number. I have emailed you with details.
Do Gordon & Julie have grow-up children? If so, do you know their names? It might be worth searching for them. They could pass on a message to their father.Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I'll smash your face in.0 -
First of all this can be reported as a missing person does not really matter whether the person is No fixed abode (ie has no address at the moment). Even if you can remember the last address this can be given and the report transferred to the police force covering the last known address. Do get in touch with national missing persons helpline, they are VERY good and work closely with the police forces throughout the UK, they can also assist in checks abroad.
Once you have a report the police then can start enquires, these include benefit checks, financial checks and death searches.
I suggest that if the station you try to report your ex husband refuses to take the report ask them what their "defination of a missing person is." I bet you they will answer anybody whose whereabouts are not known (that is your ex husband). Good luck and pm me if you have any further questions. No Matter what you do there will be critics.0 -

The police will concern themselves with children, the mentally ill, those that are obliged to pay child support and criminals but the rest of us can go where and when we please without leaving a forwarding address.
This is not true any more, you can report adults missing but if when they're found they don't want you to know where they are, then the police can't tell you.0 -

Would they tell you that they have been found and are safe though?:A I love MSE!!! :A0 -
Hows the search going hun?
If your daughter usually receives something at christmas and birthday, and he even sends a postcard when he can, he sounds like he is one to make sure people know where he is.
have you had much help from the government or the government of where he last was.
hope you find him soon.

Yes - they'd tell you they were safe and well but that they are choosing not to let anyone know where they are.
If I were you, I'd go back to the police in person and tell them you think something terrible has happened to him. Your local police will probably pass it on to Blackpool anyway as the place he has disappeared from and the more likely to have leads. Definitely ask for an Inspector and don't leave until somebody logs your call - ask for a reference number.0 -
Hi
Good luck with your search but just a few little points as to the argument over whether this is classed as a missing person...
The person was last heard of in 2004 and the OP has waited 2 years to report.
The OP's ex stated that he was going travelling.
The police will not take this as a missing person simply because of the time lapse. People try to use the police as a 'lost' friends and family tracing service and as another poster has quite rightly said, the Police investigate missing persons who are at risk.
I understand the frustration of the OP but I am sure that if she were to contact the Police they would explain fully why they will not investigate this as a missing person. The best people to contact are the foreign office at this stage and explain your concerns.
Good luck!Happy to be Debt Free!!!0
