Find a missing person

Hi
My ex husband has gone missing and has been for nearly two years now, and I am afraid that he may be dead.
He is a traveller and was apparantely going to Mexico in November 2004. He has not been heard of since.
He had also arranged to meet some friends in Thailand, last year, but did not show up.
This is totally not in his nature, to not get in touch with our Daughter, who is his only living relative. She is very worried, but is banging her head upon the proverbial brick wall, as no-one seems able to help.
She has approached the police, but was told that he needed to have an address that he has gone missing from...she doesn't have one!!
She has telephoned the pasport office, to try to find out if he actually did go to Mexico in the first place and they won't help.
She has contacted the foreign office and was told that if she didn't know where he was, they couldn't help!!
Obviously, she is now very concerned, as we all are, but do not know what to do next.
He had been living with a friend in Blackpool, when my Daughter last heard from him in October 2004, but we do not have any contact details for him at all.
All we know is his name (he was our best man at our wedding).
We have rang every listing in the Blackpool telephone book (thankfully there were only six) but no luck.
If any one has any ideas or suggestions at all, please let me know.
We are now at our wits end.
Many thanks

Try the Salvation Army. They have a lot of success with finding missing persons. See this link: www2.salvationarmy.org.uk/familytracing0

You could try the best man's name in Find People here http://b4usearch.com/ or on http://192.com/.0

How about putting a letter into the whichever paper is Blackpool's local one, or a nationwide paper, I know the Daily Record do a bit for lost contacts.
Good luck with your search.

I wish you all the luck in the world - what an awful thing for you and your daughter to have to deal with.
I think the letter in the paper idea is a good idea.
I've seen appeals on milk bottles before now but no idea how you go about that. There must be organisations that can help.
Just had a thought - typed "missing person" into Google and it came up with

You could try the electrol rolls - for a time that you know your ex was living in Blackpool with his friend. He may appear on there - at least it would be a starting point. No idea where you would go from there.
Do you know your ex's NI number? If he is claiming benefits or working then there should be records - whether they will be divulged to you though, is another matter.7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -
Many thanks for all of your suggestions but have tried all of the above.
The salvation army will only try and trace family members in this country.
We don't know my ex's NI number and the best man (my ex's friend) has moved house after a divorce!!
We have contacted the Blackpool Gazette (local paper) and have not had a response.
The sites that were suggested have been tried also.
As I said previously...we are literally banging our heads against brick walls..as no-one seems able or willing to help.
Thankyou to you all anyway for caring enough to answer. When life throws you lemons...put them in a gin and tonic !!0 -
Mmmm, the police demand an address before they got involved? Why? He's not there!!!
I would be tempted to go back to the Police and if fobbed off demand to see the Duty Inspector. This isn't a case of been missing a few days, it has been 2 years now; ergo definately a missing person!!!
Take all the info you can, photographs, documents anything and push this with them.0 -
have you tryed putting some sort of posting up on https://www.friendsreunited.co.uk to see if you can locate the best man?0

Hi
Thanks for that suggestion, but have tried this and he hasn't come up on search. When life throws you lemons...put them in a gin and tonic !!0 -
Maybe if I give people the names then someone on here, from the area might know him!! Here's hoping anyway.
My ex Husband (the guy who is missing) is Stephen Holmes..aged 49
The best man (my ex's friend) is Gordon Dickinson...about the same age
Gordon used to be a self employed shop fitter, but I believe he is now a cab driver.
(Before you all ask me to check out the cab companies in Blackpool.....there are far too many of them!!)
Many thanks for any help you can give. When life throws you lemons...put them in a gin and tonic !!0
