I am raging LIR. The best thing for the country IMO would be a Tory / Lib pact for five years. They all claim they want strong government - well there's a nice working majority and a little taste of power for the Liberals. To hear today that Mandelson is leading talks to STEAL MY VOTE has taken me to a new level of cynicism and disappointment. To see Brown STILL stood outside number 10, trying to claim credit for the Europe deal and offering the most cynical FUTURE resignation speech in history - it beggers belief.

The people, apparently, voted for change - a new politics. What we get is the worst of the old, dirty politics - with a host of self serving, self interested people - who appear to have no idea of putting their country above their own needs.

tbh I am disgusted with it. Normally with an election there is a brief moment of hope, the new PM enters number 10 and we kid ourselves things will get better. I think the length of time is this has taken is directly proportional to the lack of moral fibre available. They do not need to discuss something they have known about, and one would think, planned for, for six months.

Meanwhile my vote, now counted, is explained by these little people as being me voting for a hung parliament, or voting for Labour, or whatever a politician wants to explain through their weasel words.

I could write pages of this, and still wouldn't feel much better.

    Sorry.

Yep that pretty much sums up my feelings.
Not to mention the irony of the party's apparently for PR talking to stop the party with the most votes governing (since when did 2nd+3rd =1st).
Having any one in the cabinet is more than the LIB Dems could hope for less than a week ago.
Stable government my @ss, power trip now by the look of it.

I hope Her Majesty asks the Generals to take over. A Military Junta is just what's needed to sort out the illegals, chavs, IB claimants, hoodies etc.

The new PM, Home Secretary and Chancellor's photo opportunity. AttteeeeenSHUN!

It's sheer genius from 'call me Dave' Dave. Appear completely reasonable, but drive Cleggover into the arms of Clown.

Leave them to battle with Labour's economic catastrophe as in 1978/79, Lib/Lab pact collapses with 12 months as IMF called in.

2nd election, Cleggover completely ruined by power grubbing antics, massive Tory majority for a generation. Rejoice! Rejoice!

Does sound sweet, but it is labour seats that the tories need to win. Liberals have reduced seats and are not a real threat.

Here's a take on PR. I put money on a horse and it wins. But the horse owned by Clegg comes second and the Mandleson one comes in third. The bookie, Mr John Mandelson (no relation) then refuses to pay me my money on the grounds that more people had backed the second and third horses. There then follows a week of discussion between various bookmakers as to whether my horse came first or is actually destined for the knackers yard.

You get the idea with that.

Here's a take on PR. Only the LibDems were in favour of it. They lost seats, they lost votes. Why waste time having a refenerendum?

harman on telly saying that av was in the labour manifesto but only with a referendum. suggesting that they would only agree to putting a referendum.

You really do credit Cameron with far too much in the way of brains.:rotfl:

IMHO whatever deal is agreed won't stand a full term whether it be Lib/Lab or Lib/Con. Lib/Lab have far more in common but not enough seats to govern confidently even with SNP, SDLP, Plaid Cymru. Lib/Cons has a decent majority but the differences between the parties are too great and the deal would unravel in time, particularly when PR doesn't happen. On the other hand if it really is on offer plenty of Tories will be in revolt.

This really could be a situation in which the loser wins if they play the long game.

It all feels totally wrong to me.

Clegg seems like a market trader holding a public auction trying to get the best price for his wares. It's tacky. He owns a 'ransom strip'. It's perfectly legal.

But it's not an ipod or a bit of grass. It's our lives that will be affected. And the economy, deficit, jobs, housing, schools, hospitals etc are being bartered for political gain.
but he's a genuine guy (according to this forum)
