Skating was a bit wobbly to start with and it was really busy but it was great to be back!I spent most of it either (a) skating round and round, (b) talking to everyone I haven't seen for weeks, or (c) doing both simultaneously! :rotfl: I tried a few turns near the barrier (including the move I got my blade caught and broke my wrist while trying to do) but mostly just took it really easy. It was the 1st night back on the ice for D too after breaking his wrist a few weeks before me (badly broken - he had it pinned) so it was a mini reunion night! :rotfl: I signed up to the next set of Thursday classes which start on the 18th Nov so that gives me a couple of weeks to get back up to speed on everything which feels about right.
Apparently someone else caught their blade in their laces shortly after my fall (and knocked themselves out ) so all the coaches have had words with everyone taking classes about foot / leg attire and skating safety! All the female skaters who take the classes I go to that were there yesterday are now sporting legwarmers and close fitting trousers or long leggings (with or without legwarmers)!Slopes off whistling the theme from Fame for some reason

Bleuch... its Monday and its grey and miserable here.
I had a fab weekend though! Out for indian food (nom nom nom) and 2 sets of skating! Oh and long walk with my Mum.
Managed to almost fall (again!) by tripping up on my jeans on Saturday so I've diched those jeans! What is it with me and my trousers trying to kill me? :rotfl: I'm now officially wearing trousers (and tops for that matter) 4 sizes smaller that in I was at the start of May! :j
Attempt no 2 at skating on Saturday was better than Thursday and got some proper (albeit slow) practice in. Sunday was a group lesson so I had to start doing moves properly. Coach C started putting some of the footwork moves we've learnt into a simple (!) step sequence which we'll be tested on for grade 10. This promptly freaked me out and I almost burst into tears. Oooops!Once Coach C (a) calmed me down, (b) pointed out that she still doesn't like backwards edges as she broke her wrist doing these () so I wasn't alone in my fears and (c) it was supposed to be a straight line sequence I was attempting not a huge, messy, out of control, random set of curves :rotfl: ... it got much less scary.
I even managed a few mohawks then crossovers at speed (what I was doing when I broke my wrist) and they felt good, safe and secure - even trying them after the previous steps in the sequence. :j I wasn't expecting to be learning something new (and definitely the most complicated thing I've done so far ) on my 1st lesson back but I'm glad C pushed me. I needed to get my courage back and this really helped!
It was really good fun in the end! I wish we'd had more time so I could have learnt more of it! :j
My legs / bum / hips / thighs are killing me after all the exercise though! :rotfl:Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!
