  • Hello Taka

Hope you don't mind me popping by, but I heard a rumour in the Lewis Lane neighbourhood that you were in a plaster cast and it reminded me of the 10 weeks I spent with my ankle in plaster a few years ago. It was a nightmare to manage and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy so you have my full sympathy.

If I could send you round a hot doc I would but I think they are in rather short supply at the moment.

    Best wishes
    Hooby

MG = Memory girl - see here for her thread. Its very inspirational! Around p90 onwards (and on her blog) she has been set challenges to help change and improve her life and get back to working again... And anyone can join in if they want to! I'm really far behind but even just reading it is really inspirational and motivating! :D

Update time again! My mortgage is £41,413.13 as of today! :)

I'm getting annoyed with this cast / wrist now... :( I'm getting really frustrated by stuff I can't do or am struggling with. I ended up in pain for over an hour on Saturday because I tied my shoe laces (for the 1st time in 2 weeks)! It also takes me forever to wash and dry my hair too and to get dressed and I still struggle to open things and general house stuff. (I had to ask my neighbour to open a jar of marmalade for me!) I still can't do anything much at work either... :(

This combined with PMS means I'm a really grumpy, moody so and so at the moment. :o I need to go round to my parents tonight to apologise - I went round there for a bit at the weekend and when it was time to go they insisted I get a lift down the road (I live 10mins walk away!) and I went a bit mental and stomped out. (I am capable of walking - its one of the few things I can do!) :o Oh dear... much grovelling needed I think. :( Baaaaahhhh!

Roll on the 18th when I (hopefully... please, please?) get out of this cast and can start working on getting my wrist back to being functional...

    Sorry for the rant... :o

Have just found your diary and you are doing great on the mortgage and weight loss..are you following a particular plan?

Sorry to hear about your wrist and have fingers crossed that you can have the cast removed on the 18th

    Thank-you!

No particular plan at all really. I'm just trying to eat healthily, reduce my portion sizes to what they should be and exercise more. I've been using myfitnesspal to log my food and get an idea of what I'm eating and how many calories/ how much fat / protein / fibre / carbs / sodium etc.

I actually start some kind of 7 week programme via an NHS dietitian on Wednesday. Not sure if this will help much more than what I am doing now but its worth a try... I think its more about learning what to eat rather than follow a plan though. I've lost almost 3 stones waiting to get the appointment in the 1st place! :rotfl:

Oh dear, sorry to hear you are having such a pants time and hope the cast comes off soon and you can get back to normal. Will you need to have physio on your wrist or can't they tell till the stookie is off?

Hope you made up with the parents and are feeling a bit better today. Did you manage to work out some exercise you could do or has that had to go on hold?

I'm not sure about my wrist to be honest - there is a possibility of being in a splint for a bit and/or physio. I think its going to depend on the healing and range of movement I'll have once its out of the cast. I guess I'll find out on the 18th (hopefully!!)

    Exercise is a bit limited...
    - A bit of walking (weather has been pants here lately so not too much :o).
    - Pilates - I can only do parts of the DVDs I have as the part of my upper bum/lower back I fell on (part of the same fall as my wrist) isn't liking it too much though it is slowly getting less painful.
    - Stretches - see pilates! :p
    - Exercise DVDs - ermmm only the warm up section really as I still can't do up my sports bra with only 1 semi functional hand! The rest of them are a bit too jumpy for comfort! :o :rotfl:

I'm going to absolutely ache when I finally get let loose on the ice again! :o :rotfl:
