Hi all,
My children have mild eczema and I use Aveeno oil for the bath and also Aveeno cream on any dry bits. I am concerned, however, that the washing powder I use (Bold) is not helping matters and wondered if anyone has any suggestions as to a suitable one to use for eczema suffers?
Many thanks

i suffer from eczema, which has really flared up during pregnancy.
I found the ecover range helped...Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
Have you thought about dropping the washing powder all together and getting some of those chemical free washing balls. My dad uses them and his washing comes up lovely the only reason i havent switched myself yet is i have two mega boxes of washing powder to get through :-):jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

I too have exczema. My doctor advised non biological powders. Ive tried most of the non bios and they all seem to be similar. My skin is the same no matter which one I use but I think its trial and error. Hope you find something.0

You could try Eco Balls
they do work really well, but I just use Fairy non bio for whites,___,

Thanks for your quick replies! Do you know if you can add some essential oils to these as I like my washing to smell clean (IYKWIM!)0 -
Ecoballs for clothes (I add a few drops of Lavendar oil to the soap dispenser sometimes for the scent) and non-bio washing powder for towels and bed linen. Pyjamas sometimes washed also in washing powder as the eczema creams can be a bit to heavy for the eco balls to cope with.0

Try using less powder, say about a couple of tea spoon fulls, and some soda crystals in the dispenser draw. Gets the gunge out and I find not as harsh on that nasty skin condition. hth xBe happy, it's the greatest wealth0

Joshieg i have no idea what the effect of adding essential oils will be but i can say that my dads washing comes out and i cant explain the smell but it just smells clean just not fragranced :-):jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

I used liquid soap nuts. Its not cheap, but was great for DDs skin.
Although, after a year of hard work going through all foods/products, I worked out that it was a milk protein allergy that was causing the ezcema so as it wasn't just a product problem I have now switched to ecover for washing and Asda own eco-friendly fabric softener as they are far cheaper than the liquid soap nuts but still gentler on her skin than other brands.0 -
I use Tesco non bio and my kids eczema can cope with that. I can't stand the smell of fragranced washing powders or conditioners now because I haven't used them for so long!Slimming World - 3 stone 8 1/2lbs in 7 months and now at target :j0
