I even saw a job in salford quays on gumtree to be a companion for an old Ladies COCKATOO (yes for real) for £50 a DAY!!
Anyone in Cheshire a lovely place called Le Petite Ferme is desperate for Front of house and people to wash pots........
If you mean the cafe that used to be called Cappucino's-that has closed down. I should try Haslingden again really but I'm just a little worried as it has a bad reputation for trouble. I'm not actually sure where Salford Quays is as I haven't been around here too long and I don't drive but a Cockatoo?! :rotfl:I'd take it if I thought I wasn't being taken the Michael out of!0 -

No its not that then as it was going strong on Thurs!!, its like a cafe and deli and the manager was lovely guy- just pop your head in and ask....
Where doesn't have some kind of trouble?!? Haslingden is no worse than anywhere else.....
Cockatoo- I know!! I phoned it just out of interest and it seems she is a wealthy old lady who is having trouble looking after her bird which is her pride and joy!!
Salford quays is just out of center Manchester and a wealthy area so doesn't really surprise me!:silenced:They Were Up In Arms wrote: »I think tabskitten is a crying, walking, sleeping, talking, living troll :cool:0 -
tabskitten wrote: »MrsMalthouse- good point and full respect to you for trying!! And yes you are right- I am generalizing massively, and I do not apologize for this because when talking about people claiming JSA and the unemployment in the economy and the crisis of dept the country is in one can do little else but generalize.
Lets face it, in GENERAL people claiming JSA are able bodied and in circumstances where they could work if they were prepared to take a minimum wage job.
The same day that I was offered my new job I was also offered 3 others which I had applied for, these were carer for an elderly woman (no exp nec it seemed!) a waitress job in Rawtenstall and a dog walker.
Had I not been offered the post I took I would have accepted one of the others quite happily.
There is work out there if you are prepared to do something for minimum wage.
One can keep oneself from pontificating about other people's lives and matters that one seems to have little understanding of.
Tabskitten, you're an amazing, talented, resourceful person. Everyone else in the world could stand to learn a lesson from you. Especially we waste of space lazy JSA claimants trying to kid everybody that we'd quite like the chance to earn more than £240 a month. If you were put in charge of the country on a Thursday I'm sure the economy, the NHS, the wars and all social problems would be sorted by Tuesday lunchtime.
That's what you wanted to hear isn't it? Well now I've said it could you please go away and stop trying to make already struggling people feel even worse?
Thank you0 -

Location is a slight issue but people should be willing to be flexible. I am not talking 100 miles or that but travelling 30/40 miles for a job when your desperate should be reasonable.
Wrong, just because you are on JSA dosen't mean you should take anything. Jesus some people really do live upto their names. Other factors have to be brought into the equation such as the amount of money earned, would it be enough to pay all bills might be a good starting point.0 -
Some valid points above by beccam.
I still have this concern though that, if it was ever deemed obligatory for younge/single/childless/non homeowners to move for work if need be - that it would result in even more unwanted children being born (as some girls would get pregnant deliberately in order to stay in their home area).
I DO fear the Government might start thinking of measures like this (errr...once its been sorted exactly WHO are the Government now:cool:) - and it would backfire. I am someone who doesnt want/has never wanted children and a generally responsible sort of person (now too old to have children anyway:D) - and even I would seriously contemplate whether to have a child or two if I were young and the alternative was to be forced to leave my area. So - if someone like me (ie who believes strongly that "every child should be a wanted/planned child") would be sitting down weighing up the pros and cons of having an unwanted child or two deliberately for that reason (and making sure of course that I kept my mouth FIRMLY shut as to who the father was, so the man concerned didnt get lumbered with being a father against his will)- then goodness only knows what the chavs of this world would do....:eek:0 -

If you continue with your 'woe is me' attitude, you are going to be unemployed for a very long time. Alternatively you could go to an agency on Monday and say 'I'll take anything'.
agree with that sentiment although jobs are still thin on the ground just now, and agreeing to take 'anything' would leave anyone open to having to travel a massive distance, (just for me not easy with no car) plus costs of travel
The chances of finding new employment are greatly enhanced by being in employment. Why would an employer want to recruit someone who is happier doing nothing than actually trying to do something, even if that something is far from ideal?
have to disagree with this, i have only had one interview where what i do now (cleaning) has been been seen as a good thing as in still in work at least, all the other (hah!) interviews have seen it as a bad thing63 mortgage payments to go.
Zero wins 2016 😥0
