Again read the whole post before you determine that I am ungrateful...
Leanna how much is a double room in your area?
I'm unclear does the £400 include food?
TBH I think £200 each if it includes food is pretty cheap & you won't get a deal like that anywhere else than your parents.
Its far more hassle having your BF there than you. They don't choose to live with him you do, but they love you so they put up with having him in their home. But he needs to pay rent to expect not to doesn't reflect well on either of you.0 -
To be fair this is an anonymous forum so it's not really like insulting her parents in public. I'm sorry about your baby too what an awful thing to happen. The truth is that everyone gets on better with their parents when they don't live with them! I'm 25 and all my friends who live with their parents find it a strain. I think you should be able to find a house share for a couple.

It does look like it will cost you a bit more but I think it would be worth it both for your relationship with your parents and your own mental health! I think it would be better for your partner as well, if you're finding your parents difficult it must be worse for him.
And whoever said your parents should get a lodger that sounds sensible too. They would get more money but they may come to appreciate you more!
Also, if you are entitled to benefits then there's no shame in claiming them. You paid tax while you were working and when you get better then you can go back to work and pay it all back 100X over!
Good luck0 -
I think that since this excludes food and you are renting from your own family it's kind of steep (though very cheap for a couple on the open market).
I would move out, the couple of hundred extra a month would be worth it to me for privacy and independence.
I'm sorry about your baby, what a terrible thing to happen.0 -

No it was originally £35 a week including food when it was just me, then they asked my partner to move in but said we will keep the rent at £35 but you will need to buy your own food, they then said its £100 a week and you still buy your own food.
It isn't the fact of the money, or that my partner is refusing to pay it, it is the case they asked my partner to move in, and then they have suddenly changed what was already agreed....that they offered. If they would of said ok my partner is to pay the same £35 a week and you still buy your own food that may of at least sounded reasonable as its 2 of us so yeah double the rent but no they put it up a further 1/3Credit Cards at 25/12/2017: £1297.36/17,936.78

You obviously never read my post after my original then you would understand my circumstances....they asked him if he wanted to move in because of what happened I never asked and then as soon as he moved in they said irrelevant of whether he stays or not MY rent will be £100 a week from £35
If some toerag got my daughter pregnant, he wouldn't be moving in until he proved he could support the child. If the child was sadly lost, the little toerag would not be allowed to stay, especially paying the same low rent as my own child. He would be expected to pay full market rent like any adult.
You sound like a very selfish young girl. All I'm hearing in your posts is self pity, and trying to get public sympathy like a guest on Jeremy Kyle. You are in this situation because your contraception failed. While your parents can be expected to support you, you are an adult and very quickly need to start acting like one.
I'm sorry if you don't like what you are reading, but you put your whole life out in public hoping for sympathy for yourself, and hoping for condemnation of your parents. They have raised you, and now deserve some kind of life for themselves. Please stop attacking them because of your tragic loss.Been away for a while.0 -
My son pays me £300 a month. This is one third household bills [electric etc etc] and 1/3 food costs and an extra £10 for replacing the washing machine and vac which will need doing one day in the future. My "housekeeping" ie all bills ,elec, council tax etc, food, toothpaste etc i budget £900 a month. [£10,800 a year] 3 of us live in the house,my my husband and my son. If he needs running anywhere he gives us petrol money or goes by public transport. he is learning to drive and is paying for his own driving lessons. he buys his own clothes.
If I was given a quick, rough break down like that and then I wouldn't be complaining but she just point blank refuses to break it down for us. I have always paid my own way since I was 16 so no queries with food, petrol, toiletries etcCredit Cards at 25/12/2017: £1297.36/17,936.78

So you're getting your room for a third of the going rate AND it includes bills. What on earth are you complaining about?0 -

I "think" she is saying her parents want £400 pm for a double room & she could get it for £225-350 on the open market.
All prices are without food it seems, but with other bills.0 -

Quick look on RM - £330pcm. Yes - other bills to include so you need to put a value on your privacy.
As a working couple, I personally wouldn't go down the room in a shared house route unless you're really strapped for cash. I would scan the local papers for privately advertised studios/1 bed flats. HTH0
