Slightly of track here but tescos are now removing points when you genuinely return unwanted goods or faulty items as have made a couple of returns one being a harddrive that was reduced to £49.99 thinking it wld be good to store our photos on the computer incase of probs but our son laughed at the memory amt he said it wld probably last us over 50 yrs with the amount on our pc (obv not technos) anyway noticed when we have done these returns sure enough points r being deducted which hadn't in the past but I suppose it makes sense and surprised tescos hadn't sorted it sooner as people do abuse the system.

There is a 6 deal limit per person on deals so you'd not be able to buy 100 at a time and take them through the tills.

Unless of course you took them through the self scan checkouts - which of course would then be, er, abusing the system because you are doing that so you could get that many.

Ther used to be a bulk buy policy of 6 items but never one for 6 deals.

Who buys 100 cd's in 1 go anyway, OP did you not honestly think that buying a large quantity might be abusing the system and tesco woudl remove your points

Dont think the OP states that he bought them in one go. Could be several trips

OP I'd pop over to www.paidtoshop.co.uk for further advise. Someone on there was banned by Tesco (more than once) and had their points taken away. I undertand they took Tesco to court and won an out of court settlement for the value of the points. They do not delcare how much money they got, but they have obviously beaten the system.

However, I never abuse Tesco because of the risk of being banned. I try hard to keep under the wire, whilst still getting the best deals I can. I hold more than one card, so I can spread the risk around.

Paid to Shop memers (who are the best at the Tesco game) offer advice on the levels of points you should get per card, how many cards you should hold per household etc., before you come under investigation. You might want to go and check out their forum and keep under the wire next time.

That would be taxiphil he has already posted on this thread.:D

I thought they did this anyway, I once returned a kettle as it burnt me (the outside was not heat protective:eek:) I was asked for my clubcard to swipe so they could take off the points when they were refunding me. At the time I thought it was a bit cheap and that I should maybe contact one of those gimmiky no-win-no-claims people to point out the failure on their part (very burnt hand- lucky my 4 yr neice had not been near me at the time!)

I have never seem anything about a 6 deal limit either. Morrisons clearly state this in their stores for their BOGTF offers but in Tescos, no never seen this stated anywhere. They offer these point deals to encourage people to buy more of that product than they would have otherwise.

Cheer up, theres a new points promotion on DVD's now - with different T&C's

    * Offer ends 23rd May 2010. Double clubcard points are not part of this offer. 300 extra Clubcard points will not be shown in the online basket at the checkout. They will be will be awarded in the August Clubcard Statement. Extra Points will be awarded on all purchases of Sex and the City Season 1, Sex and the City Season 2, Sex and the City Season 3, Sex and the City Season 4, Sex and the City Season 5 and Sex and the City Season 6 only. Multiple purchases will be eligible for extra points. Doesn't say they will be having all your points off you and banning you in these terms and conditions, maybe things are looking up :)

They offer these point deals to encourage people to buy more of that product than they would have otherwise.

Which is why they do it.

Tesco have run enough extra points offers over the years to know that clubcard point hunters will max out on them if they are a deal as good as this one. They know the T+C they can and should put onto the offers - they've put limits on mobile phone points and ink cartridge recycling points, they could have done the same on the CDs, but didn't. To take them back after purchase is illegal.

I totally agree. Unfortunately however, Tesco do deduct the points imho knowing that most, if not all, people will just accept it & not fight them.

this is what they are worth.

This has been done before on several occasions and tescos appear to lose the cases when they get to court

Do they actually get to court though? Or is it a question of Tesco thinking - if we defend this it's going to cost us £1K in lawyer fees win or lose plus (if we lose) the couple of hundred that's being claimed.

If we just pay up then it's only a couple of hundred.

Doesn't settle the legal situation one tiny bit.
