Were the 100's of cds proper chart cds or were they from the budget chart which were not included in the offer (stated on the offer posters) but still gave the 500 points?
If they were from the budget chart then you weren't entitled to them under their T&C so they could take them back and you would find it hard to get the points back.0 -

Not really as they sells had the offer discription in contradicting the terms and conditions. Tescos could therefore be done also for false advertising. Which it should for its grocery web site alone."Save the cheerleader - Save the world"0 -

Tesco are protected by their T&C's that we all agree to by having and using a clubcard in the first place, a county courts time in this day and age should not be wasted in such a way, if the OP goes down the court route then I for one sincerely hope Tesco challenge it, I am sure any judge worth his salt would see what the OP was trying to achieve.
Court court court, sue you for this sue you for that, for far too long dam right fraudsters and imorraly wrong people have hidden behind this threat to be honest it is pathetic, taking Tesco to court over clubcard point I have never heard anything so ludicrous in my life!
Silly advice is given far too freely on this forum there are consequences for all our actions.
Yes and idiots like you come along and mouth off with even more silly comments
Absolutely nothing wrong with what the OP did he was playing the game and maximizing his benefit from the offer. It was absolutely lawful above board and no fraud involved. He complied with the terms of his contract which was to pay money for goods which tescos told him for every 2 he bought they would award him 500 points. Tescos told him of no limits so have no rights to take back the points.
And yes he could sue them and should do after all tescos advertise and tell him each point is worth up to 4p each when he spend them on partner deals. So thats £1000 he should get out of tesco. As he has complied with the offer.
Stop backing tescos they do nothing but exploit us every day.
Example I buy walls cornish icecream 2lt 6-8 weeks ago it was £2 then they did this stupid offer on a 1 ltr version for £1.75 and tried to claim it was better than half price and at the same time they put the 2ltr size to over £4. Now this week they have reduced the 2ltr back down to its old price of £2 and are trying to claim its a half price offer. This is a con. This is tescos abusing us, so sorry if i people decide to expolit tescos point offers then i say good on them, just try not to get caught.
Another one currently is soft and gentle deoderant is showing a 500 points every time you buy one on there web site. Yet it you purchase one in store or on line you dont get the points another example of tescos exploiting us and abusing us as he is not giving the points that he is avdertising.
It actually appear to me that you are envious on the OP as you dont have the balls to expolit the offers your self and dont therefore get the rewards."Save the cheerleader - Save the world"0 -

I think that in the event of any error the T&C take preference. No doubt they would say that the sel was human error.
Tesco messed up the deal so they should honour the mistake.0 -
come on folks
surely with 12 foot banners outside most stores buy any 2 cds or dvds get 500 points.....
tv ads stating exactly the same offer (buy any 2 get 500 points) never seen the bits anywhere that said-
ps. by the way if you buy 20/50/100 etc we will remove all points.....
was legit offer... and no signs info anywhere with limits, all just buy any 2 get 500 points, so many peeps took them up on there widely public offer for the cds/dvds and the points so cant see how mr t a leg to stand on with this offer and removing points now no matter how many you bought.
but in no way anyone should take the cd/dvd offer on the chin
What, you realistically think that any large banners should be cluttered up with a load of small print for T & Cs !? I don't think so.
You see the advert, check out the display, study the terms & conditions e.g. Bargain Chart not applicable, and be aware of Clubcard T & Cs. Yes, I noticed some shelf labels on Bargain Chart cds for the offer, but they also referred to the T & Cs so in reality just an extra way of promoting the chart cd points - I know of some stores that took them off because of their ambiguity!
Besides, with the Bargain Chart - should be obvious that Tescos are not going to give 500 points for 2 cds if they cost only £3.50 ea.
As regards any Court case, English Civil Law is based, as I recall, on reasonable cause, and it seems most here regard OP as 'abuse' and therefore Tesco's reaction is not unreasonable.
But there again, everyone is entitled to their opinion. But I think, the guiding thought should buy it if you want it, treat the points as an added incentive (to lower the price), but if you don't want it - don't buy it just because its got some extra points attached!I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0 -

In a word, yes. They manage in most supermarkets to state "Offer limited to 3 per customer" when they have Buy 1 Get 2 Free or whatever other offers, it isn't difficult (they manage it on the shelf label in many stores, so a banner should be easy enough. They also could, if they wanted, stop you from adding multiple offers of the same item on your clubcard as it is clearly working on a live system (otherwise your receipts wouldn't show your balance before and after the transaction). I doubt applying a limit retrospectvely when they could quite easily do so beforehand would stand up.
Good luck OP,

But - receipts do not show balance before and after. Balance figure will usually relate to the end of business the previous day - so it is not a 'live' interactive system. The receipt shows the points given with that transaction, if you go to another Tesco store later the same day - no change in the balance. So your idea of instant feedback wouldn't work. And besides its not 'retrospective' when the T & Cs for Clubcard are known beforehand - i.e. by all means work the 'system' but don't take the p***I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0 -
Who buys 100 cd's in 1 go anyway, OP did you not honestly think that buying a large quantity might be abusing the system and tesco woudl remove your points0

I thought if most people were trying to be abuse a deal, they'd try to hide it as much as possible so as not to be caught. So if in a supermarket, a deal says "limited to 6 per customer" then you'd buy 6, then go in & out of the store 5 more times, or get 5 of your friends to do the same, then you'd have 36 items on 6 different receipts. So you've abused the deal, but no one is any the wiser.
With points I suppose it's a bit different because you could do the same over 10 trips in Tesco, buying 10 CDs each time, they would probably notice that too. However in this case Tesco hadn't clearly displayed a limit to the deal, and I think the OP was genuine and can quite easily try and claim his points loss x 4 as many other posters on here have said.
Even if there was a limit, families could still very easily abuse the deal with multiple clubcards and addresses.
I agree with many of you on here that there is nothing wrong with individuals trying to profit from a deal as much as any corporation does. It's only fair.0 -
Why keep on about there was no limit on the amount you could buy.
Tesco's have not limited the amount of cd's people bought thats not the problem, the problem is they have took away the bonus points which it clearly states in the clubcard T&C's they will limit the amount of bonus points.
So where is the argument.
Martin always says you can make £6 or £8 in profit when they do extra points he never says go and buy 100 plus cd's and make £100 - £1000 profit does he, no because chances are they will take back the points.0
