Got up early this morning bout 6.50am,not as early as some of you no doubt.
Quite a productive day as i've cleaned out all my food cupboards and put to one side all that needs using up soon, then i've lined them all with kitchen roll to soak anything up,no matter how much i try to stop syrup dribbling it always manages to escape,so at least no sticky shelves this time:)
I've also cleaned out the fridge and lined that too
Just fetched 2 dozen jam tarts and 2 egg custard tarts out of the oven as well,so i'm quite happy for today, still plenty to do but it'll get done eventually.
I'm now going to put the kettle on and finish off a cross stitch square for the Grannies Quilt site i stitch for

Ooh Mrs Muggy you are making me tired! Congrats to Great Auntie LindyLoo Marcie is a lovely name, I like!!!

That's great news, and what a fab weight as well - Marcie is a lovely name. Congrats to you on being a great aunt and to the new family!! :beer:The 2012 mantra - "A place for everything, and everything in it's place"0 -
Afternoon folks.
Um.... where was I? Oh yes,
JackieO great to hear that you're OK for another year.
PenPin hoping the op goes well today and you're not too groggy later.
Happy Birthday Butterfly Brain's DS
Congratulations Auntie Lindy
Our meal plan is being revamped; I was going to do a highly experimental and possibly complicated new (to me) type of pizza, but we're holding that over til Saturday now, when Mr LW will be available to assist, and having egg'n'chips tonight, after we've been to the polling station. The plan is, as soon as Mr LW gets home from w*rk, he'll whip the wheelchair out of the car and we'll trundle along and do our civic duty, then he'll cook dins.:A
I'm afraid as far as I'm concerned, it's a question of choosing the "least worst" iyswim. Still, I've made up my mind, and at least their local candidate seems halfway decent.
I hope everyone's having a good day today; ((((HUGS)))) for anyone who wants/needs one.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
The weather here in Durham is lousy, its been raining all morning (I know the garden could do with the rain). I voted on my way to school this morning, its the first time I've driven to the voting shed, I usually walk but was taking the kids to school in the car because of the rain. I'll be glad when the election is over I'm getting really fed up witht eh amount of bumf being stuck through the door and sent to us by post. The new house is getting letters addressed to the previous owner - she's been dead for a year which would be really upsetting for the family.
Had somebody round to quote for heating in the new house this morning and I've got another person witht eh windows this afternoon. I'm not sure what we're having for tea tonight as its Beavers. I could do with going to the supermarket but I'm putting it off until tomorrow. DH is bringing a visiting foreign student for dinner on Sunday so I need to think of what to cook for them (and tidy the house up )
Visited DS2 teacher yesterday to talk about his reading. I'm not sure whether it's done any good, we'll just have to wait and see. It is a fairly minor problem, but I don't want DS turned off reading / school. I wish I knew a primary school teacher to ask their advice.
I'm off to try and find the floor in DS bedroom!
PS JackieO congrats with the results, my mum has now been clear for 3 years now, but she gets really stressed and worried before her checkups.0 -
Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
So they are running local election today as well as the general election. What stupid fool decided to put both ballot boxes along side one another and then have the ballot papers white and a pale yellow  Yep you've guessed it I've put my general election vote into the local election box and that won't be counted til tomorrow AFTER the general ones are counted tonight. Loads of people were confused as to which one was which and one woman nearly did the same as me and put both papers into one box.
I am so cross with myself as essentially I've wasted my vote  and I am also cross that they coudn't make it clearer and separate the boxes. I mean which idiot decided pale yellow was a good colour - why not pink or blue or green - something which under artificial light won't look similar to white and vice versa :mad::mad:
Sorry for the rant - going to bake something to soothe my soul
Jackie - good news on the all clear.
Lindy loo - Congratulations Great Aunt :T Love the name and a good size too
Looby-lou - re asking a teacher why not start a thread on the Marriages and Relationship board? You might find some teachers could answer you there??
Butterfly - Happy Birthday to your DS - enjoy your beef tonight and a creme caramel all to himself <drools in envy> :rotfl:I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Just taken a break from the ironing for a cuppa and five minutes off.Still feeling full of beans and walking around with a daft grin on my face. Its said that one in six women will have a brush at least with breast cancer in their lives and that virtually everyone knows some one whos has had it or been threatened by it .its a frightening prospect. Both my DDs at 40 & 42 know that they will have a slightly raised risk of it and will attend their mammograms when the time comes.
Still onwards and upward chums.Stuck my cross on the paper and so thats another thing out of the way.Tomorrow will be to say the least an 'interesting day'.Right back to the grindstone .Even though the sun is out the wind is a bit on the nippy side today still its good drying weather
Cheers chums

Just to let you all know that I did vote this morning on my way to the boring course. Also should point out that the course was very good and informative and the lunch was fabby! Apparently it was meant for a Head Teacher's meeting but they had to go elsewhere as some of the schools were closed. Now I know how they are provided for at these meetings, I feel a complaint to the council coming on as our school can't get basic supplies for the children.
Anyway, now I have that off my chest I shall go and get ready for Hairspray the Musical.

Excuse me....a big rant coming on.............
We applied for a grant to up the amount of insulation in our loft, surveyor came, yes we can have it done, appointment made for today. This morning I scaled the dizzy heights of the ladder into the loft to remove what was up there, fortunately not a lot. Men arrive to do the job, go into the loft....sorry you have already had a grant for this house there is more than 4" of insulation, bye bye!!:eek::eek::mad::mad:
I was staggered, in fact I was speechless which for me is a minor miracle at the best of times!! I phoned up the company and enquired why the surveyor had not picked up the fact that some insulation had been put in at sometime under the grant scheme, the notice was pinned to a beam in front of his face....no answer just an apology. I can pay to have it done if I want to but its not my house!! we have put enough cash into it since we came here I simply cannot afford to spend anything else and no way will the landlord do it. He will not replace the sitting room stove so there is no way he will pay for the insulation.
I am still waiting for the firm to come back to me and explain why the grant was approved.
In the mean time GGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0
