...I am currently debating if I should hang on at work until September and take a career break, or if I should just hand my notice in now. I don't work long hours, but the elf doesn't like going to breakfast club (he's ok once he gets there), and the house is chaotic. Hmmmmm....
Can you shuffle your hours to fit in with the Elf's school hours a bit easier?0 -
.... I need to post a a sock snake to my nephew, but it's been sitting on my desk at work for a week and has sort of become part of the furniture (plus the fact I'm using it as a wrist rest :rotfl:) I might make another one and send that as I've got rather attached to this one :rotfl::rotfl: It helps with the RSI honest
Ooh, that sounds like a fab idea - are they easy to make? I've got a drawer full of snagged tights left over from winter0 -

My brother was asked yesterday whether he was voting for Gordon Brown, Nick Clegg or David Cameron - he replied "as none of them are standing in my constituency, I won't be voting for any of them", leaving the enquirer very confused!0 -
Good Morning Chums ,yes I am definitely full of beans today and feel so much better for my all clear for another year
Penpin I hope all goes well for you today and a new meal plan sounds interesting I am up for a new challenge now.
snoozer It's good to be cautious and I am all in favour of extra mammograms as mine was picked up via a mammogram I had no lumps and pains or anything so that machine probably saved my life.
Today I am just off to vote, and then when I come back I have a lot of craft stuff to sort out It seems to have accumulated over the past few years and I now have six large crates of the stuff. A strict sort out is needed I think.I promised I would pick up DGD from college at 1.00 to save her a double bus ride so thats another little job to do today. Then I really must attack the ironing mountain thats sitting in my laundry basket as I like all the ironing out of the way before the weekend. No shopping to get this week as I am going to be ruthless and shop from my freezer for awhile.I have extra milk left over for some reason so I might make either some semolina for a pud tonight , or a rice pud in the SC.Dinner will be a slice of pork loin in stuffing and potato wedges with brocolli.porage for breakfast and fruit for lunch as I have some strawberries and grapes and bananas to use up today .I am definitely on a 'use up' day today.
Hope everyone has a good day and votes according to how they think will be best .I live near a polling station and there has been a steady stream of folk passing my door this morning already.Good weather may mean a good turn out I do hope so.
Take care everyone and thanks again for all your good wishes
Cheers JackieO xx0 -
Good morning all, for a second time, feeling a lot more human now
what is surprising me is the amount of OSer that are like me and left putting the cross in the box til the last minute, undecided.
I had to go with the local man (SNP) and although I dont like him personally, he does a lot to keep the two local RAF bases open which in turn brings a lot of work/income to the area. However I dont think full independence for Scotland would work, and I'm very proud to be British first and foremost (as an aside, when I served in Iraq and had to go to multi national briefings I used to be EXTREMELY proud of having the Union Flag on my shoulder:D.)
OS for this morning, batch cooking with a pot of chilli and a pot of spag boll on at present and BM just starting to rumble awayWeight w*tchers recipe banana lemon muffins in oven, yummmmmm!)
off for a coffee, have a nice day all and hope it is OS and productive for everyone.
PS Great news about results JackieO, GF has had her four year all clear and is looking tip top0 -

Morning all
Dont normally post on here but I do read them.
Just wanted to say great news Jackie
Bitsy I too took my boys down to vote with me this morning - they even put the cross in the boxes under supervision (although according to the bbc website apparently the presiding officer can confiscate the ballot paper for that  thankfully we live in a very rural area and common sense presides :rotfl:) scary thing is that IF this parliament sits for 5 years then DS1 will be able to vote in his own right next time........suddenly I feel old!!
My OS thing today is I am trading eggs for a discount off a reflexology treatment, bliss, quiches are in 't oven for later and I have a broody hen who wants to hatch about 20 eggs apparently......she hatched a couple last year though and was a good mum so I am hopeful we should get some nice chicks.
Hope everyone has a good day - please go out and vote for whoever you think is best, but vote whatever. Hugs to all that need themFree/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -
Morning All
Cloudy but not too dull near Cambridge, not too cold either.
Cranky - it is a hard one, and I went back to work full time and after a while he started playing up when I left him at the childminder. She said to leave him as normal wait outside then peek through the window 2 mins later. He was happy and playing, just trying to be controlling as they all do. I would think hard about it and not rush a decision. You are going to need some adult company, and a social life, which work will help with. I would look at getting more help for chores - housework, ironing, so that when you are not at work apart from cooking all your time can be given to Grumpy in his waking hours, and weekends are available for enjoying yourselves. Work should be obliging with hours changing due to the working parents ruling.
Jackie so pleased to hear your news
Pen-Pin hope everything goes well for you today.
Relaxing in the 'van seems to be helping my back/legs so fingers crossed.
Voting wise for the GE I have registered my protest vote, as it will be wasted here.
Take care

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
morning all,
My neice had her baby today so off to town in a while OH has the boys as its his day off. Baby Marcie weighed 8.5lb which is massive as my neice is normally a size 4 in clothes!
home made shephards pie for tea, OH took boys to the library for an hour while I cleaned up, so place tidy... for now!
Its raining, again.
Hope everyone has a lovely day xxMum, wife and dinnerlady!0 -
Morning Peeps
Busy as always today, DH and I have been trying to exercise when DD and DS are in bed at night but it's leaving the house looking like a bombsite. So today at some point I'm going to make a plan of action for what to do tonight when we get home. Corned beef hash for tea tonight (yummy!), and turkey salad for lunch today. Also going off to cast my vote during the course of my run tonight - multitask-o-rama!!
Penpin - Hope your op goes well today
Jackie - Great news, must be a relief to say the very least!
Bitsy Beans - I couldn't agree with you more re. the leaflets. Every night when we've got home recently the pile of junk mail in our porch has been beyond belief! Can't wait for it to be over now...
Hope you all have a lovely day
