First time for me too Jo, and some of the architecture is magnificent. In fact I took several photos of the ceiling vault at the council offices, but despite the flash the light was not playing ball and they came out too dark to be worth posting. Pity.

Paula - one of my kids favourite things is mince (will only buy steak mince but i just buy less and bulk it out)with a tin of beans in it - we call it po pie after the tellytubbies - theyre 11 and 14 now but the name has stuck! one small tray of mince about £1.50ish feeds 5 of us and you can put any beans in it doesnt have to be heinz. (or the £2.50 tray does 2 nights 1st night normal mince and tatties with lots of veg in it and the 2nd night po pie) or fish and sweetcorn pasties ( smoked fish or tuna sweetcorn and basic white sauce) and some puff pastry, if using tuna works out at less that £2 for us. - always wanted to write a recipe book for saving money none of this feed 4 for a fiver i want to feed a family for two nights on that!- bought the economy gastronomy book - should have saved my tenner.
pork meatballs and spaghetti, pork mince £1.80 makes about 30 small meatballs, tin value tomatoes and value spaghetti - £2.20

Lol Em, yes, we had a lovely time of it! Haha Munchki, the bottle of wine was lovely, the last couple of mouthfuls were interesting however, as they seemed to attract the one weirdo in the vicinity in a direct line to where we were :rotfl:For some bizarre reason, he seemed to think I was his queen, but hey, I can live with that :rotfl:

i think we'll all have to put our thinking caps on, but if it was so easy we wouldnt be here, - i'd be at the Sunrise Resort and Spa in Side lazing at the pool from 8-4 then a nap and then a couple of wee drinky's!

so if this counts I have just taken advantage of the free photobook from photobox which I'll use as a present. This saved me £23.99, so can I count that?

Toots, if you were the queen, *mind you I do have that pic lol* then what was I as parts of me seemed to be in his direct reach lol, LOL between us I am surprised he still had both hands complete hehehehe

Skint, I have been working on that very type book for a while now, fancy perhaps a joint venture? I agree with you, even when there was just me, I fed us for much less than a fiver and it was still healthy! It can be done, just a change in thinking really.

Em - thanks, that's a great tip for me as I've just had to undo my trousers to sit comfortably; really need to get back on track with the diet! Cutting down portions would be ideal :)
Skint, I do a lot of mince & mash meals as my cooking skills are pretty poor but haven't tried with beans and kids would love it :) pasta tuna and tinned toms are good too, speaking of feeding a family for a fiver, did you see the OS thread about showing Jamie how it's done? - I've also been attempting a Hull delicacy which involves 75 to 25 ration of instant mash to sage & onion stuffing, mix together, dip in batter, and fry...mmmmm Hull patties yum lol is there any wonder I need to diet xx
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick @ss.... and I'm all out of bubblegum.
