Mmmmmm Hull patties sound yum! I could eat whole packets of sage and onion stuffing on their own (with lashings of anchor butter mmmm), but fried in batter sounds fab too.

Paula I love patties too. I don't think you can get them anywhere else. By the way I live about 15 mins walk from the University.

Skint, I have been working on that very type book for a while now, fancy perhaps a joint venture? I agree with you, even when there was just me, I fed us for much less than a fiver and it was still healthy! It can be done, just a change in thinking really.

yeah lets go for it, i used to go on the thread that listed the grocery challenge but found my menu was rather "ordinary" so stopped even reading it,

right Bear Grylls hasnt appeared so will have to tackle this mountain of ironing - only thing its grown since this morning with having 5 loads out all day - wont all be getting done tonight thats for sure!

Cool skint, we can work out the details, I think it is a great idea really, cheap does not have to be unhealthy or boring!

Paula - have found the frozen mash or mash & swede mix from Morrisons is a god send- used to be 2 bags for a £1 brilliant for throwing on top of pies rather than having to cook tatties then mash them then fart about then put in oven- they come in the shape of croqettes. i was the worlds worst for buying a bag of tatties and then throwing most of them out!

also couple of tins of value peaches etc makes a great crumble for about 60p

Rosie - i try and do as little as possible and if that means putting it in the tumble drier with a damp towel so be it and then straight onto hangers - just have to fight with the little darlings to hang the things up (put everything on hangers now fed up picking the clean washing up off the floor after ironing it!)

Rosie - i might be being over-cautious but i'd perhaps edit your post with your address. OH always tells me off for not being trusting but i work with some people with pretty dodgy behaviours to say the least and so i've probably got tainted views. I'm not familiar with the area, so you might not be disclosing too much, but just in case. Sorry to interfere.

Left over mashed tatties - have them the next night fried with a little cheese and whatever else you care to throw in - I used to put cheddar and beans in with them, lightly fry them into little patties! Yum!!

Sorry, just had that though with all the mention of mash!

Skint, Munchki, there are plenty on here to help out with drafts and stuff! Think it's a great idea :)
hehe Em, one of my facebook friend's statuses said 'when your life flashes before you at the moment of your death, will what you're doing now make you proud?', and I commented, 'I'm eating cold sage and onion stuffing from an oven dish. I feel very proud.'
-Rosie, I used to live on Princes Ave so not far away but am from East Hull; it looks so run down now, especially compared to all the new shops in town! Off to Town Docks museum on Wed with the kids :)
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick @ss.... and I'm all out of bubblegum.
