Neighbours hate children!

I have to say I really object to this. Rumours and hearsay about something like that are really not helpful, no matter how miserable a neighbour someone is. IMO, shame on you/your son for spreading such malicious gossip.
RE the OP's situation, she sounds like a thoroughly miserable old cow and I would take the advice that many have given and ignore her. What can she actually do? Intimidate you? Only if you allow her to.
One interesting point is that the OP comments on this neighbour's garden overlooking hers, yet meritaten's family was perplexed that their neighbour should object to their kids overlooking them when bouncing on their trampoline. It does kinda show that there are 2 sides to every story and all that...
my son wasnt told through idle gossip but by a member of the local police force (and more than that i wont say for fear of getting them in trouble). as he has only told me then i dont think that we should be accused of malicious gossip. unless you count this forum?
The OPs neighbour may well be a miserable old cow - but as in my sons case they are a couple and it seems to be the wife who is making the kids lives miserable. I just suggested on reason for this.
and as there are more than 44700 people on the sex offenders register it isnt inconcievable there may be at least one of these in every village or at least every few streets in towns.

do you really object to a couple of kids bouncing on the trampoline? I can assure you the last thing on thier minds is watching the nieghbours - they were just having fun and my sons garden is fairly large and the trampolined positioned well away from the dividing fence, and I doubt the kids could have seen into next door even if they were inclined to!0 -
I would like to say a big thank you to everyone on this thread because it's really lifted my spirits.
I honestly thought I was the only person in the world to have Norman Bates' mother living next door to me :rotfl:
My neighbour does all the curtain twitching stuff and more - she assaulted me - well punched me in the face as it went - a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't hurt but did report her to the Police but they couldn't do anything due to the minor nature of my injuries and no witnesses lol.
Oh well she did get banged up for 6 hours and the race hate Police Officer is coming out to see me this week so I don't know what angle they're trying now - but hey if it gets her warned off by the Housing association then all the better.
Good luck OPKarma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -

Oooh Kittie how awful! I hope you are keeping the Housing Association informed? You shouldnt have to put up with that. Child hating trolls is one thing but violence is completely different.0 -
I would do as suggsted and carry on your lives as if she's not there, but keep a diary of any comments or anti social behaviour coming from her. They can ASBO the older generation y'know!0

Yes, the PO who's coming out to see me soon said he would be liaising with the HA so I'll see what he says.
If she was 20 years younger I'd have hit her back, but she's older than me and suffers with arthritis so i don't want to get locked up for 'granny bashing' lol.
She's a weirdo though. She's got a life sized mannequin that she dresses up and she's got loads of those scary looking dolls iykwim? The ones with different names and velvet coats and muffs etc.
You just can't reason with the mad so-and-so.Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -

make sure you keep a diary for your HO. Controversial it may be but I have often found some of the rudest, most intolerable people in our society are the older generation0 -
thanks for all your replies - they are reassuring to read that i am not the only one in this position. The poster who said about times - the baby never goes outside. My 7 year old only goes out rarely between 4-5. they are both in bed by 6.30. We are usually out all day on weekends. As for my 7 year old being excited - i mean she is a chatter box! She does not shout or anything. She plays on her own usually watering plants, playdoh or with dolls.Live well. Laugh often. Love more.
Always look on the bright side of life.....:beer:0 -
Buy your eldest an electric guitar and your youngest a drum kit, then let them practice in the garden.
While bouncing up and down on a 12 ft trampoline set up right next to their fence. Make sure the kids wave or moon them at the top of each jump.
Invite your kids friends round the more the merrier.0 -

My ex MIL has loads of those scary dolls  They're on shelves all around her living room.
I don't visit if I can help it
It's not her though, she loves kids (and those weird Reborn baby dolls _pale_)Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o
