    Hi All,

Scotsgazza, Jygar and sdemmery, from what you've said I'm unsure if you've been charged for data usage. A member of the team will be in touch shortly to look into this, as nobody's going to be charged at this stage.

Seajays, I apologise for using the term "internet ready devices" in my last lot of questions. I wasn't trying to get around a question, I was just trying to think of the right word to classify handsets which have heavy internet functionality. Not all of them are what I would deem smartphones, but the vast majority are.

Stuart, you raise a good point there, but don't worry, we'll cross that bridge if we get to it. Just contact us here when you're back in the UK if it's presenting an issue.

I've got some more answers to all of your questions coming in a bit, that'll be the final lot before we draw the discussion to a close.

    Thanks,

    Tom

That really has annoyed me, as you can probably tell if you are monitoring it at the minute ;)

edit: Although not to the extent of having to use a massive font... not sure waht happened there.

Aargh, poor choice of words! My bad.

I don't think we're closing it, I'm just coming to the end of the list of questions to answer. If anything we'll leave it open but there won't necessarily be any responses from us as there's nothing else to add. This is entirely speculation on my part though.

    Thanks,

    Tom

    Hi Tom, some questions...

    1. Can you try and answer the question raised by me many pages ago and also the bitterwallet blog, which is if someone is at 700mb every month and therefore gets charged on the third month, then for the next three months uses under 500mb, and then again starts exceeding it...will the whole warning process start again or once you've been charged at any point in your contract will you automatically be charged for exceeding again?

    2. There is still some confusion as to whether exceeding is 501mb or if they'll be a more reasonable limit i.e. 600mb before someone actually gets charged.

    3. Will Vodafone raise the 500mb limit if lots of people are being charged or getting warning messages?

    4. What are the packages and prices that people will be asked to switch to if they are exceeding?

    5. If someone gets charged £5 for 500mb will they receive another warning via txt when they are about to exceed that second 500mb?

    Thanks

Ps. surely this thread warrants monitoring after your 'final' post of answers. It's fair to say I think that new and valid questions will arise, I mean we are 50+ pages in and Vodafone have still not managed to clarify everything! Why would you bring it to a close surely the eForum team is there to answer question, especially ones that 191 etc are finding so hard to answer themselves.

    This is page 26 :)

But i do like your questions raised.
Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies

Sorry I was just reposting my post off the eForum because I know they look at this thread to, that's what I was talking about, they're suggesting that after today they're not gonna answer any questions on the now 57p thread over there!

When customer support stop supporting customers, that's because the legal team has said be quiet.
Conflicting information been given out is just ammunition to be used against them and with the regulators. If they at least kept reading off the same hymn sheet it would be a different thing.

  • So am I not able to cancel my contract if I have no went over the cap yet? Im in the final year of my university and haven't used my phone too much but now i'm finished ill be using it much more.

I already pay £35 a month. I cant afford extra £5 charges and this was not the case when I signed up to Vodafone in January.

This just goes from bad to worse!

"Thanks for all your complaints, we haven't answered any of your concerns, nor are we going to- we are just going to run away and hide from this PR disaster; only 17 days left for us to go now so what you gonna do?"

Really looks like they are going to get away with this?

Got a text from them today saying simply "From Vodafone XXXXX, just to confirm that a request has been made to issue you with your PAC code"

On the home straight now, looks like they have my phone back I guess.

What a truly despicable company, every further comment from them just fuels the fire even more.........
  • Tom,

Another question is if in 6mnths time you decide to start selling the Desire with a 1GB limit to match the Nexus...will that be applied retrospectively as this has been?

Or will we get the standard..."well there are different price plans now compared to when you bought it 6mnths ago..."

And can we have some assurance that Vodafone are looking in detail at the 500mb limit for high end smartphones and actually considering whether this is enough? As people have pointed out basically if you don't want to be charged you can forget streaming anything while not in your own home on wifi...in which case you'd have your pc there anyway.

    Thanks
