I've been measuring shirts and doing calculations.
I got to the total and worked out I need nearly FOUR 40 foot containers :eek::eek:

So I sent my calculations to Popeye and he thinks it will be ONE 20-foot container :D He'll look again this evening :rotfl::rotfl:

So that is doable - I'm so glad I didn't have to come back here and revise my 10,000 goal to 100 ;)

The Orphanage is Katha Day Care in a township called Katlahong (famous for gun ownership and internal violence during Apartheid)
The Charity number (registered in SA) is 031-394 NPO

hope this helps make your appeals more legitimate.
    Web-site coming soon........ :D

Here's a quick email i've done using snippets from helen's and Mg's email. Let me know what you thnk.

    Dear Mr Glass,
Quick plea please - I've got a friend who is organising 10,000 Christmas presents for 10,000 kids this Christmas at a childrens charity in South Africa where she volunteers. As well as being an orphanage, it also acts as a day care and after school club helping out families that are led by children or grandparents due to the death of the parents through AIDS.

Well you saw how nuts the kids there were for football when you watched the world cup??????

    Well ..................
................ all they want for Christmas is.................
    our kids old football tops.
My friend asked me if I knew anyone who had any football shirts or shorts etc that their children had grown out of that could be passed on. Everyone in South Africa is mad o
n football and instead of dress down Fridays they have Football Fridays when everyone wears their football shirts to work or school so you can imagine what it would mean to the orphans.

And I thouhgt with over 400 pupils in the Model, including my own this would be a great opportunity for the children to help other less fortunate children without too much effort or parents having to put their hands in their pockets.

Have a think about it and let me know.

Ohhhh <squeals in excitement> I will most definately bear this in mind :D

Only thing is if I went down this route I've no idea how much would be a reasonable charge for say 3 hours (1/2 to set up 2 hours cooking and 1/2 hour clean up)........

Oh and I worked out the hourly rate thing on the blog and mine came to £9.05 per hour........did I do something wrong? Or do we just live on very little :o I used our joint income - dunno if that makes a difference. I earn £3.50 ph per child (but am restricted with numbers) so the idea of £9 seems scarily within my grasp. Either than or my days as a legal cashier were a farce as I can't use a calculator :rotfl::rotfl:
