And you know the peculiar thing? Ever since I was small, I have loved writing stories. I am remembering that one of Mr Big's challenges was to think about what we did as a child and what we enjoyed.

Crickett, this was exactly what I always wanted to do. I even won competitions and was published a couple of times as a teenager. Lost my way, grew up, got on with life. I too get that tingle if I write something and somebody says they enjoyed it. The last time I got so excited was when I wrote a story about some flamingos in Cuba (I was inspired what can I say) and a friend offered to illustrate it for me, then I lost my bottle. You go for it if that is what you want to do.
Cheery I am off to google that website.
MG, I am cobbling together an email tonight and I will send it to all of my contacts (and I will steal some work contacts) and post on my facebook page too. Oooo I have butterflies from all the excitement. Thank you ladies for lighting up my life.

Claire, love the ducks - just post the picture on your site, if you dont sell any you havent lost anything.

Where's Jo'burg? *insert confused smilie here* :rotfl:

I know you are concerned about the children comparing their Dad's affluent lifestyle with normal living.
How would you (and me for that matter) like to spend 24 hours in a township, experiencing tin shack life? :) That's our invitation!

That is a "cool" response :rotfl:

On Tuesday I walked about 1km in Katlahong and I was stared at. It is unusual for white people to bother with the black areas - I feel quite strongly about this. 20 years after the end of Apartheid it should not be odd that there are whites in the townships - but it is. And it is sad, I have felt nothing but welcome there. :o
  • Website is pending - will be with us soon.

In the meantime Leeds is scheduled for Sunday 17th April unless you fancy sooner? I will come anywhere we can gather 25 students together remember.

Just promise me you wll have a huge slipper on hand for any big spiders - I hate spiders.

DS1 is having a sleepover with his pal from school - with the beautiful nickname of Leonardo. I laughed out loud at your invitation - then had to explain to DS1 and his friend (who was born in Wales but who's family are Nigerian) about Apartiad and the continuing divisions in SA.

Thats a toughie for two ten year old best-friends. The realisation that they wouldn't have been able to be friends, or in the same school, or in the same bedroom like tonight has really sobered them up. Leonardo has practically grown up in this house ..................... and yet had I followed DS1's dad to SA his world-view would have been so different.

Sometimes you make the right decisons - even if you don't know it at the time, don't you?

    QUOTE]

I hope so Tesco. I hope when I am out and about that I get to meet as many of the people on here as possible, really get to know what their "hedgehog idea" is and then be able to connect-the-dots to help everyone have the most amazing 2011.

Look what we are doing together already - imagine what we could do when we really get to know one another.
