    Whereabouts are you Bitsy?

In the land locked West Midlands, not far from Brum :D

Damn and I really want to live by the sea too :rotfl:

    Edited to add:

Re the pricing - I just paid for my DS's birthday party at a soft play centre. Cost me £8.95 (+ £1.70 surcharge for helium ballons for all the kids) and for 16 kids cost me circa £150. that didn't include the cake (made by me and my mum - cost of icing was £8) or goody bags which in the end cost probably around £15 in total.
I was thinking along the lines of the kids would get to keep the food they cook and a goody bag, I'd supply all the ingredients, bakeware and the pinny's and also do the washing up and tidy up.

The only problem this is all likely to take place on a weekend. My H works occasional Saturdays but TBH Saturday's and Sundays are the only day we have to spend as a family. I love the idea of doing parties but I am have a wobble about the sacrifice for my family time, especially since I'd still have to CM during the week.

Like I said in my original ramble......there are so many things I'd like to try I am not sure what direction to turn. A friend of mine reckons she can't cook and I promised to teach her one day, likewise someone else said they can't cook but love my baking......perhaps I could hold cookery lessons in the comfort of their own home LOL.
I'd also love a job in a pre school as I love working with the under 5's......which would also give me the holidays free with my own children.........oh decisions, decisions. Still even if nothing comes from any of this it's been good having the old fire in my belly about doing something. I've even felt more productive about getting the house straight etc. it's made me realise just how much I've been treading water with regards to my job. Whilst I love CMing I am a wee bit lonely (don't know many local CM's) and I do worry about the impact it has on my own children always having other kids here. Anyway I am going off on a tanget and I think it's time for bed. Am knackered after my tap class ;)

Am loving he thread but have to admit, read pages 1-3, skipped to 50 and restarted on 111(now on 115)....true inspiration from all......I did a course in college, (after finishing school) in childcare...went to America for a year as an au pair...came back, met OH...worked in private nurseries.....got pregnant, gave up work to be SAHM...DD went to school, I became a dinner lady and went to welsh classes 2 mornings a week(DD in welsh school).......FF a few years...friend starting a course to be a TA(thought..I could do that and get out of the house/earn more money)....I can do that, sign up....now...I am 2 lunchtimes out of work(placement and college).......I do want to do this, but is it worth it at the mo....

Sorry if rambling, but just my thoughts on my personal circumstances and if I should do this(college course)???l

Souk, there is a personal shopper locally who has an arrangement with the local Cafe Rouge. for a fixed fee, she takes you shopping, and you get lunch thrown in too.....makes it a really nice girlie day and the guy at cafe rouge says that the ladies ALWAYS go in with loads of shopping bags, so they are obviously getting the most out of the experience!

Next time I am in there spending my tesco clubcard deal vouchers, I will pick up details and let you know how much they charge and what it includes.....

To whoever said about vouchers and borrowing stock, I'm thinking about it now. The most exciting idea for me though was MG saying that her single parent advisor told her she could spend money on this and get it back. If she can , then so can all other single parents who are trying to get into work and what a huge market. Also looking at the corporate idea. I have a full time job so will slot this in between shopping (research sweeties) and a couple of hot dates at the weekend but I'm working on it. My mate had styling in Edinburgh that she was referred to through her life coach so that's another one for me. Fired up but back to work tomorrow so off to bed now but thanks so much all and MG it's starting......XXX

Hi Souk08, glad you feel so positive, have done so much thinking and are moving fast. I. for one, am a potential cllient - need to look smart, hate shopping (really) and normally make a mess of it (end up with the same kind jeans I have always likes and all the rest of teh stuff black and simple). I am not a single mum, trying to get back to work.

What I am trying to point out is that your market is really large and that the group you mentioned in your message is probably relatively small. My feeling is that to build your business up relatively quickly and to move up the strata's of the market you will need to: 1) establish links with life coaches and similar; 2) advertise (leaving cards) in health clubs, up-market haidressers etc.; 3) get free publicity by getting interviewed by local newspaper, magazine and similar; 3) build up testimonials and sucssess stories.

But the main thing is that your talent is to make life easier for people who want to look good, have a budget in mind (this can be small or large) and dislike shopping or are not very good at it. From here on it can be anything...evening, party, business, laisure wear etc.

    Hope this helps.
