Someone asked what the business was I am setting up (sorry by the time I caught up on the thread I forgot who) I am selling buttons and beads I have a real passion for themso that is my bread and butter line. I am also hoping to import some beads from Uganda which they handmake from paper to support widows out there. I am also selling jewellery some of my own when my little girl leaves and I have the time and space but also selling on behalf of others so as to create a wide range and general appeal and hopefully promote cross selling I live in North Wales so plenty of tourist attraction opportunities and fairs. I like the idea of working in co-operation with other women (not that I wouldn't accept jewellery made by men :rotfl:) so that there is mutual support and hopefully profit.
Bit disappointed today my business debit card and commercial card have arrived in the post today but they are in my name not the business name so need to phone the bank on Monday to sort that out couldn't use them anyway as no pins or anything but it would have been nice to see the business name on something official.

Ohh buttons and beads. You have my attention now. Are you going to be selling online or do you plan on a shop? I wish it was a shop as I'm off to North Wales in three weeks and could spend hours mooching and spending a fortune to teach OH a lesson for dragging me into games shops. :rotfl::rotfl:

Morning everyone,
Thank you to all for the positive vibes sent to all who are looking for new jobs.
On a positive note, I have mentally written out where I am now and where i want to be (dont know if that is a mind map). I'm totally new to all this positivity,
I tend usually to think the worst and if something nice happens its a bonus. (self preservation) but I dont like being the eternal pessemist.
Where i am is job less lol, where I want to be is in employment. I cant expect partner to support me for too long.
On the positive side, we have a roof over our heads, enough to eat, keep warm etc., and we have a strong relationship.
I'm doing all the stuff like checking jobsites and had been for interviews over the past 2 weeks. I've had feedback on the interviews and it has been positive so thats good.
I guess what I am asking, is there anything else I should be doing.
The only job I wont entertain is call centre work again, because after 2 and a half years in that environment, I'd be stuck on the same place again, and it is what prompted me to walk in the 1st place.
Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.
Thank you x0 -
Trogledyte, ask them if they need to give you a purchase order number to quote. If not just invoice them quoting the RG number and the name of the project and it wouldn't hurt to quote the principal investigator's name on the invoice as well.0

I am going to post something on a website at work (it is a kind of wanted/for sale board) and so will he. However, he asked some very sensible questions. Like, do we want adult shirts as well as children's shirts? Do we want shorts, socks and boots as well? Do we want footballs? And I didn't know the answers! It is such a great idea and we are both fired up to help. I might even put something in our church newsletter!
Thanks for this
The whole plan is growing at quite a rate, and I am imagining heaps of shirts gathering throughout the UK :eek:
On Monday I am planning to contact a couple of companies I know in the UK to ask them if they could provide a depot and access to a freight forwarding co that they use. One person in particular I think would be a great asset, but unfortunately his company is moving in about 3 weeks time so the timing would be pants. But hopefully a central collecting point would be a starting position....... Thanks to the posters who have suggested and advised this answer.
As to the shirts, I discussed this with local friends this morning. At the rate we're going the sheer quantity is more than the 200+ kids at this one (first?) orphanage need, so we can be a little fussier. Friends this morning said UK Premier League (shrugging icon here!) shirts are considered highly desirable and hugely recognised. It is easier to see a Premier League game on terrestrial TV here than it is in the UK. Certainly the kids talk to me knowledgably about Rooney/Beckham/Gerrard etc etc (straight over my head :rotfl:) And any size at all. They vary in size from tiddlers of 2 years, to big round people of 17- def. adult sizedIn the sack of stuff I bought over there were shorts and socks too, they were gratefully received - I wonder about boots and balls
My modest request last month has so burgeoned, I never imagined that I would soon be discussing shipping a container load of football kit :rotfl: so sorry if I don't know the answers0 -

If you don't want to clutter up the thread you can PM me, I'd be very grateful!
In my experience, if you don't put the meney through an organisation you operate under the Japanese organisation rules and British tax rules. So you invoice the Japanese university and they pay into your account - to check how to do that you will have to talk to the Japanese administration.
Hope this helps

Hi Fantasia,
do you have an ideal job - maybe one you've always wanted to try but never been able to maybe due to circumstances - this is the ideal time to think about that and maybe spend some time REALLY working out what you want to do next. Whilst expecting the worst means you are rarely caught out, as you say you dont want to be an eternal pessimist. Maybe spend some time thinking about positivity as it sounds like you quite like it. Perhaps you could practice reframing your more negative thoughts into positive ones to see how that feels?
