Hi Spud, I have lots more than you to lose and have been a yo yo dieter for years. I recently started a version of Slimming World and have seen noticeable results over the last three weeks. I haven't felt the need to eat any "junk" and have been eating more and more frequently so not felt hungry Happy to be a "buddy" for the duration if you like

I've done SW before, lost 3 stone but stopped and put it all back on. I still have the books somewhere, but have never understood the Extra Easy plan. My books arent that up to date
Third, I need to lose weight as well. And it is scary. I am trying to work out the best method of doing so. I have done every diet under the sun...with mixed results. The best one I have used was Slimming World, but I object to paying for someone to weigh me! I also tried Low carbing, but my digestive system took an intense dislike to that - I managed to lose 3 stone on both of those... but then the weight came back. With friends. I just want to lose 5 stone at least, and preferably 8. I go swimming and do circuits and am pretty fit. But I just weigh too much and am on the extremely large side of average! :) So, here's hoping I can do it for good this time.

I've done every diet too. Most recently I did a very low calorie diet, and ate no food whatsoever for around 8 weeks. Just had shakes or soups. I lost loads of weight, but struggled towards the end watching my hubby and kids eating. Came off it and yep, you guessed it, put every ounce back on and more.

What veg were you using? I normally put veg in at the beginning.

    :)

I put beef, onion, garlic, gravy and vino in at the beginning, all nicely browned as in recipe

I added carrot, sweet potato, mushroom and leek with an hour to go and whacked it up to high as per recipe.

I might try the "bung it all in for 6 hours" method next time!

Ah, now you see I was told to put root veg at the bottom of the pot right at the beginning of cooking because they need to be nearest the heat element for longest!

Def put them in earlier - the mushrooms are not so vital but the "hard" veg will definitely have less *bite* next time round, I am sure!

Spud, if the red and green plans worked before, why not just do them again? You don't have to do the extra easy.

Well, we dont have a red day budget, so most days end up being green - loads of stodgy pasta etc. The lack of portion control on SW worries me, as our portion sizes are the reason I'm in this mess :o

I see SW as a diet, and I'm trying not to think of this as a diet, more a new way of life. It's hard to explain

I know what you mean spud30. I also dislike thinking in terms of a diet. Which after all is die, with a t! However, on the basis that this whole thingy we are doing with Mr Big and friends is about changing our outlooks and our lives, I figure changing my shape and getting fitter and healthier can be part of it too.

sw isn't a diet cos nothing is banned! As long as you follow it, don't worry about portions and just eat til you are satisfied. So if that is a double portion of pasta one day, and a small portion of rice the next, so be it.

Hi Spud, Tescodealqueen and crickett1234, I'm another rubenesque gal who needs to join you in the weight loss plans! Just had to go out and buy a new pair of jeans :(

Freegle request sent out, hope it'll bear fruit for footie tops (come on Universe, let's put smiles on the kids' faces :):) )

Wow, well done Clairewop, that's fantastic :)

  • Spud, I am trying the Extra Easy, can't claim to know how it works technically though as you eat quite a bit but not junk. Everything free on either green or red is free on orange (extra easy) this means we can all eat the same food as I can do "normal" food like chilli and rice. You only have 2 Healthy extras though. I have found this much easier to fit in with the family and have been doing rice things and noodle things and a few pasta things with lots of vegetables. Early days I know but together with my new "I am going to do it attitude" I am determined to succeed. Although Paul McKenna (spelling?) does not recommend dieting I am listening to "I can make you thin" too, as I see this more a Healthy Eating plan than a diet (change of mindset again)
