I watched Eat, Pray, love in the cinema last night, it was really good though OH slept through it and said it was the worst movie he's ever seen. Can recommend it!
my dad does this - snoozes his way through a programme and then wakes up at the closing credits and pronounces it "the biggest heap of pants" he's ever seen:D:D
is this the proof that we've been looking for - maybe men can truly muliti-task!!! provided that one of the tasks is sleeeping that is!!

remember this week i had a day with a business coach? well one of the things he kept harping on about was "knowing your numbers" - about the importance of knowing where you are day by day. (does this seem familiar to all us DFW's?)
one of the first things he does is get his small business owners to contract out the book-keeping, management and coaching reports and basic admin. leaving the business builders free time to concentrate on working on the business rather than in the business.
when i asked him who he recommmended people use in this area he looked at me blankly:D. So i suggested it would be a great idea if he found someone, who understood the business coaching reports that needed to be done, then he has a seamless transition.
He agreed that would be an excellent idea:rotfl:. go me coaching a business coach:rotfl:
now this guys works for the company that brad sugars set up - if you google his name you will find his site - and then you will be able to find his local coaches.
if each one of those coaches has a handful of people who could use your skills - you could be off and rolling pretty sharpish.
just a thought after this week.

Thanks for this MG,
For various reasons I don't want to start on this too soon, if it takes off like you and Claire are doing I won't have the time to devote to it and I would fail at the first hurdle. I will put this is my to do list ready for when I can really start to look for work.
You really are inspiring and so full of idea's. I love the way you think outside of the box:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
Hi MG and everyone - I can't remember if I'm in the Matrix, but if not, please please add me
I'm hoping to distribute fliers for Claire's jewellery, have been spreading the word verbally already, hope some of the girls "bite" and buy some earrings. I've recently started a twitter page but can't use it or FB on this laptop so once I have it, I'll start working out how to spread the word whenever I can.
DD has asked me to tell you all that she is lovely, she's with me now helping with the space bars
I'm getting excited about my new bionic i.e. completely rebuilt computer coming back to me on Tuesday . Hopefully my ancient printer will connect to it or I'll be asking for one on FB and I will be able to start thinking more seriously about how I can help small businesses by doing their admin and be able to work out how to do it.
One thing I do like doing is proof-reading, web pages, books etc etc - I am a stickler for spelling and grammar and am good at prettying up text and CVs (used to write CVs at a recruitment agency many years ago). If anyone would like me to proof/sense read fliers etc, then PM me and I'll give you as much help as I can.
This week I've been running around trying to catch my tail, starting the course was exhilarating but also a bit scary, I'm finally starting to take control of my life and it's a bit daunting. I also have no idea how to write up the experiment we did properly in a scientific rather than literary way. I must do it today as the class is tomorrow night!!
Before that, my lovely mum has put some money into my bank account to buy DD some winter clothes, so we're going to go out to Brighton and buy some clothes and be ladies wot lunchI really want to try a little vegan restaurant I was given a flier for last week.

Good Morning MG!
Read this paragraph of yours out loud twice and am amazed at how much your description described what I do!
A few years ago (pre-recession) I did all of this freelance for small businesses who could not afford a full time administrator. Out of necessity, took on a full time Office Manager job for a slightly larger business, but admittedly it does not have the same job satisfaction or flexibility as being one's own boss. Since your challenges started, the thought of returning to the previous type of work has been constantly present as a possible option for the future.
So if you don't mind me putting this out to our little MSE universe - any ideas of how to build this up slowly while still holding down that full time job would be gratefully received.

My thoughts on this were to offer a couple of hours per week per business. Initially this could be done in evening's and weekends maybe? Depends how many business's you start with and how quickly you build up the numbers to keep this manageable with full time work.
Hope this helps!:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
I have sent MG a pm about this and she suggested I post on here to see if you peeps have any ideas. My OH and I currently work, OH has got the most horrendous shifts at the moment and not likely to change, I work parttime.
We have a business which in an ideal world, OH would run fulltime. However we are in rented accommodation and need to move to expand the business, we have put in a final offer on a house that ticks most of the boxes but the vendor isn't playing.
We have a very successful ebay shop and a very kind Tregemred has offered help on building a website. I have sent some flyers and info off to her.
The business is garden machinery/small plant, sell/service/repair basically we'll turn our hand to anything. Currently supplying local garages with nets of logs and kindling. We need to keep going forwards so any help in kicking @ss would be appreciated and pointers on how to move upto the next level.

Wow MG things are really flowing for you aren't they? I have been following like a mad stalker but don't feel I have much to offer at the moment.
If I may ask for some help though? (I feel really cheeky!)

How can I put a positive slant on the "Jeremy Kyle years", ie bringing up a child? He has disabilities which has meant finding childcare has been, well, I don't want to say impossible but it hasn't happened. So I am ready for work, but I don't want to highlight reasons that I haven't been working which may give an employer an idea that I would be a pain to employ, if you see what I mean? Does that make any sense at all? Is "family commitments" enough of a reason to be unemployed these days?
Many thanks.

wk15 new year
wk17 contact business coaches and learn systemd
wh19 contact small business unit
wk21 contact target accountants

wk25 - go live
i'm sure there is loads more you need to do - but you get the idea?
You will soon be there - one baby step at a time

Just noticed about the CVs that you used to do - it's something I've been meaning to have made up for me & DH for a while, but the joys of full time work means that it's hard to liaise with someone for advice ......
do you charge for assistance making up CVs & if so, how much?
PM me if you'd be interested
PS - sorry but I'm a stickler for grammar & spelling too so shouldn't need any help there :j My Mum would be so proud :ADebts 07/12/2021

Beautifully put & so simple (in theory) - but what's this wk 11 & 13 Xmas thing?????
Yaay, it's the thing I've decided DH & I will celebrate this year, having opted out for the past 2 years due to issues beyond our control. I'm off on holiday the last week of November so the tree will be going up then.....
