  • Just some random thoughts, sorry to butt in, I am not exactly caught up but have lots of thoughts.

The thing is even since I joined this wonderful website 3 years ago I have believed/hoped there was a different way to live, to actually enjoy most days as opposed to dreading them or trying the positive attiude and come home feeling like you have fought a battle with every miserable person you have met. There must be an alternative to the exhausted headachey fog I seemed to live in. I had essentially spent money in order to be happy although I didn't realise it at the time and it hadn't worked very well. Things are much better then they were, I have work in perspective most of the time! and life itself is better in terms of friends and having fun.

I have believed that for me being happy and secure would involve being more organised, being debt free and running some kind of side line business to keep me interested - as a sort of extra push if you like, something for me, that I had made. As the years have gone by the debt has gone down (it started at 24,240), I have also spent money on house, car and teeth disasters and I am pleased with how things are going money wise. I have made some strides in organisation, tried things like being an Avon rep(not great), working as a tutor(love it), living on £4000 a year (not a success!) and dabbled in e bay.

I want a the simple life, good food, a warm house and my friends and family to visit, and I am sort of nearly there in many ways. I am still looking for the elusive thing for me tho, I read about people like Claire who make things and Memory Girl with her talents, Redmadcurls who runs her own business and all these amazing women on here and it has really made me wonder what could I do,

I just wanted to say thank you, I know being debt free will go some way to being happy (free from the bank at least) but I know there is more out there and I am looking forward to finding out what it is.

    That's me :j That's me :j

I think that's why I find the challenges so hard - I can go get but I'm not a go getter by nature (OK - more of a terrier than a go getter) as I really do want the simple life. But some long filed away dreams have been coming out of the woodwork recently - I just need to work out what I need to do with them

I only got into making jewellery because I hated having physio on my arm, so i was told either physio or find a hobby that will involve using my arm. It just went from there, I started selling because, theres only so much jewellery you can make for yourself and friends and family, plus I needed the money to get more beads lol

I'm on a fitness burst because I need to get the BP down, so you're not the only one investigating new things due to Dr's orders :D

I might sit and make some wrap bracelets while i'm watching tv and chatting on here, then again I might not lol, cause the house is lovely and tidy (apart from all the boxes in the corner) and it will mean getting stuff out again :(

Quality of life is something money can't buy, although it does help a lot :D

    Hello all,

don't post on this thread very often but do read it and try to keep up [not always easy ;)].

Anyway, I have an interview tomorrow at 12.30pm for a part-time job I'd really like to get so I'd very much appreciate some good vibes and positive thoughts around that time. I've been self employed for years and am proud of myself that I've been able to do that. Not always easy but I do enjoy it and am now not very good at being employed by anyone else :D.

I have about 6 'bits' of work and this one would make a big difference financially as its well paid and I know I'm worth it. My OH was recently threatened with redundancy and we had a very difficult year - it is quite scary for me to feel I'd be the only bread winner and its all 'down to me marketing myself' and others thinking I'm worth employing. He has some work now tho its temporary so I'm trying to get as much work as I can and we're overpaying on the mortgage as much as possible.

Thanks in advance - hope everyone has a good week, Teapot xx

Yep, I agree with all the recent posters in all sorts of ways. Quality of life! You can't buy friends or happy evenings, but you can buy a snug roof over your head, good heating and hot water, good food and transport to take you out of a weekend, and on a holiday (I miss having holidays, I really do).

I can be a go-getter, and now I've got the basics absolutely fully funded, and I'm debt free (at last!) I'm going for getting back the quality of life I used to have, and then more - not more things, but more experiences! Happy ones!

  • ok - so just throwing another idea back at you:D

remember this week i had a day with a business coach? well one of the things he kept harping on about was "knowing your numbers" - about the importance of knowing where you are day by day. (does this seem familiar to all us DFW's?)

one of the first things he does is get his small business owners to contract out the book-keeping, management and coaching reports and basic admin. leaving the business builders free time to concentrate on working on the business rather than in the business.

when i asked him who he recommmended people use in this area he looked at me blankly:D. So i suggested it would be a great idea if he found someone, who understood the business coaching reports that needed to be done, then he has a seamless transition.

He agreed that would be an excellent idea:rotfl:. go me coaching a business coach:rotfl:

now this guys works for the company that brad sugars set up - if you google his name you will find his site - and then you will be able to find his local coaches.

if each one of those coaches has a handful of people who could use your skills - you could be off and rolling pretty sharpish.

just a thought after this week.
