  • Congratulations Macgirl...that is something I could not contemplate doing...I am in awe.

After having an incredible birthday and lovely weekend, I have now come down to earth with a bump in coming back to work. However, I intend on attacking the world in a positive manner and I am looking forward to choir tonight. :) Definitely going to make dates in my diary to do fun things for me - just trying to think what they can be and when I will do so.

    Good morning :)

Another day more to be de cluttered, I'm still ploughing through the boxes in the dining room but getting there. My mum is coming down for a few hours today so she said she would help me :) so hopefully by the end of today the boxes will be no more :)

My kitchen is looking fab!! all shiny and new looking :) just need to buy a bit of grout to replace tiles on the wall that were damange when the new bathroom door frame was put in, and a few tiles resprayed and it will be finished :)

We will get the bathroom finished next :) Then we will have 2 rooms all shiny and new :)

Mac girl wow congratulations on running the great north run!!! i can't run to the end of the street!!!

  • morning all

you know - the first thing i look forward to in the morning is getting to the stage where the kids are fed and everything for school is on the launchpad ready to go.

Then taking 10 minutes to read my extra challenges from mr big and then hit this thread for a burst of positivity.

looking back i can see how hard i was making life for myself - and thats quite a confession from someone who did "being poor" really well:rotfl::rotfl:

i think i prefer my life as it is this morning, with the sun shining inside and out and a spring in my step - on this crisp autumnal morning everything seems possible.

this week my challenge from mr b is to "take care of business" - which to him is organising the "charity" weekend Study skills courses for the students. (thats the £80 one I talked about earlier to pay for the student doctors son's tuition fees IYSWIM)

As usual he has pitched the goalposts a lttle further than is strictly comfortable :D

so in the next 7 days my numbers are (Cos he asked me to make a public declaration)

bronze - arrange 2 groups of 10 kids locally (Got 6 already :j)

silver - arrange 4 groups of 10 kids within driving distance (say as far south as newcastle and as far north as - well the sea!!!)

gold - arrange 4 groups of 10 kids nationally (somewhere far enough away to need an overnight stay)

My parallel challenge is to, now that I am getting more comfortable receiving help. is to ask for something practical every day.

so today, is there anyone out there who is a whzz at designing flyers/ posters who could share with me how to rustle up something that is emailable? because i am thinking of doing this using electronic means.

the plan is to contact my friends up and down the country. see who is interested in helping me, then asking them if they wouldn't mind emailing the information out to their own email lists.

i'm working on the theory that everybody knows someone who struggles juggling the learning thing so I need to make it easy for people to distribute the information (at the click of a mouse ideally)

once i start to get responses of who is interested then i can start pulling together the clusters of where people are and booking a venue............... so if anyone is interested for their kids holler out and i will stick a pin in the map and try to get close to you.

i hope that kind of makes sense on a monday morning. because i am making all this up as i go along:rotfl::rotfl:

MG - I'm not going to offer to be a whizz at making up yourflier, but please feel free to do the following:
    * ask me to proof-read it (and add on good ways to boost you up in writing, I have a litle experience of creative writing in the nicest of ways)
*put me on your distribution list and I'll send it out to everyone I know (I'm on the PTA at DD's school, primary, so they may be a bit young before Y6?).

I also have a spare room if you do one around this way (and we're reasonably sane here, lol)

And what about a twitter account so you can update people with where your course's would be or maybe a positive status a day, then we could all follow you on there & send you onto friends aswell :D

Later that same evening, on a spur of the moment decision I was looking on the Jobcentre website. Lo and behold I found the company I work for advertising for staff for a new branch. This is my step up, the promotion I have worked for and have been promised for over 12 months. My manager knew nothing about it,. The universe has given me the opportunity I have been secretly desiring. Fingers crossed for me please.

MG after eventually getting my hands on your book (prised from dd2's hands :D) I have been decided to stop procrastinating and sign up to do an OU Law degree.

    go bomechina :j:j:j

isn't it strange hwo the universe absolutely knows what we "need" and not what we "want"

that promotion is in the bag - and you will soar:T:T

OU law degree - omg!!!!!!! you are so brave - so here is my offer. no matter where i end up in the next (insert however many years you decide to take to do all the credits) you are to contact me whenever you hit a brick wall with your studies and i will personally be there for you - is that a deal???

thanks hon - theres an incentive to get all my text down on paper asap.

and thank you for offering to distribute too - thats brilliant and hopefully a quick and painless way of getting the info out superquick.

I spent last night refining the students day - it is going to be so much fun whilst sharing with the kids.
