    morning all

you know - the first thing i look forward to in the morning is getting to the stage where the kids are fed and everything for school is on the launchpad ready to go.

Then taking 10 minutes to read my extra challenges from mr big and then hit this thread for a burst of positivity.

looking back i can see how hard i was making life for myself - and thats quite a confession from someone who did "being poor" really well:rotfl::rotfl:

i think i prefer my life as it is this morning, with the sun shining inside and out and a spring in my step - on this crisp autumnal morning everything seems possible.

this week my challenge from mr b is to "take care of business" - which to him is organising the "charity" weekend Study skills courses for the students. (thats the £80 one I talked about earlier to pay for the student doctors son's tuition fees IYSWIM)

As usual he has pitched the goalposts a lttle further than is strictly comfortable :D

so in the next 7 days my numbers are (Cos he asked me to make a public declaration)

bronze - arrange 2 groups of 10 kids locally (Got 6 already :j)

silver - arrange 4 groups of 10 kids within driving distance (say as far south as newcastle and as far north as - well the sea!!!)

gold - arrange 4 groups of 10 kids nationally (somewhere far enough away to need an overnight stay)

My parallel challenge is to, now that I am getting more comfortable receiving help. is to ask for something practical every day.

so today, is there anyone out there who is a whzz at designing flyers/ posters who could share with me how to rustle up something that is emailable? because i am thinking of doing this using electronic means.

the plan is to contact my friends up and down the country. see who is interested in helping me, then asking them if they wouldn't mind emailing the information out to their own email lists.

i'm working on the theory that everybody knows someone who struggles juggling the learning thing so I need to make it easy for people to distribute the information (at the click of a mouse ideally)

once i start to get responses of who is interested then i can start pulling together the clusters of where people are and booking a venue............... so if anyone is interested for their kids holler out and i will stick a pin in the map and try to get close to you.

i hope that kind of makes sense on a monday morning. because i am making all this up as i go along:rotfl::rotfl:

As I said before if you have the posters done/ready I'm more than happy to put them up in schools around I am and email them to families I know. I am in se/sw London so travelling wouldn't be a problem for children/families. Also have contact details for church halls (Wandsworth/clapham area which I can pass on -last time I enquired they were about £40-£60 for 1.5 hours).

  • Thank you so much MG - your books arrived on Saturday. For some reason I was unable to log on, I kept getting 'your connection has timed out'. DS has been away at camp so at least I have been able to look at them first.

I decided a few months ago to focus on the positive and I am following the challenges with interest and cheering you on. I have made a start but feel I could benefit from more de-cluttering. I normally get so far and stop. I took Clear Your Clutter with Feng Shui out of the library (an easy and interesting read) to give me more inspiration to 'get it done'.

My goodness it does move quickly on here
. Over the weekend you had me down memory lane -firstly at Chatsworth picturing weekend picnics and paddling in the river or fountains when I was a child. Secondly with my childhood books. Now its Twitter and Facebook!

If no one more qualified comes along I would be very happy to help you with your posters. I am not a graphic designer but worked with MS Publisher for several years so have a little experience there. When you are satisfied with the design it would simply be a case of attaching and sending a pdf off.

  • Another lurker coming out of the woodwork - thanks all for all the inspiration and positive thinking! I have been reading the challenges but am still working on the decluttering (even though I have only been in this place for 6 months I brought a lot of clutter with me!)

There, there...I read somewhere that if one is to be successful (in any occupation) they have to be able to take a minimum of three rejections. This focuses one's mind and sharpens their thinking and reasoning - apart of signalling resolve.

Untill recently I did give up after one rejection - and than went away and to lick my bleading soul.

    No more. Bring it on...

Firewalker, thanks for this comment - I was starting to get a bit frustrated with the fact that all I seem to have been doing for the last 6 months is trying to find the right job for me. I have had 3 interviews, waiting to hear back from the third which is a permanent job but a level below the job I'm looking for, but still worth it for the fact it'll be permanent. Last week I heard about a job that is exactly what I'm looking for so sending out my request to the universe! Once I have a permanent job, then we're onto the mortgage - the place that I want came on the market today so here's hoping!

MG - I will PM you soon to get a copy of your books for when I restart my masters at the end of the year. And when you are doing your international tour I can offer accommodation in Western Australia in my new little home!

Thanks again to everyone for changing the way I am thinking and approaching life!

  • Hi MG
I am another who is de-lurking to thank you for the inspiration that is you and your diary. I have taken the last 3 days to read from the beginning and am totally inspired by your courage and determination. :A
I am following your challenges with interest (I am still at the decluttering stage LOL) and will help in any way I can.
I have a daughter just starting her second year at Uni in Plymouth (only the other end of the country from you!) and would love a copy of your book to send her together with your flier, so that she can pass it around her Uni friends.. you never know they too may be interested in your book and/or course!

I will PM you for the book shortly.

Thanks to everyone here for their positive thinking, I think I am starting to see the wood from the trees if you know what I mean :)

    Take care

Hi All!!! nearly up to date with the diary MG, a weekend in Kent with the folks has helped with that!! will be back shortly to fill in properly and look how well everyone is doing, but for now I am busy creating a calm decluttered serene lovely place to work in :) I have bought my notebook for the challenge, a lovely, vibrant coloured slightly-out-of-the-ordinary one. I have been today and bought a few items for my haven, a lovely cushion that says " may your days be filled with laughter, friendship and love" 2 mini childrens windmills to put in my plant pots to remind me to be a kid occasionally (oh who am i kidding i am most the time!!) and have created a new zealand corner in my room for the place i most want to be!! looking forward to reading todays challenge, sorry for the hijack MG, will finish my read of the diary this evening hopefully so will post more then :D
Lots of love and positive thoughts to all.
