Hi, MG,
Just had to pop out of Lurkdom to say..
WOW - what a turnaround! Your MoJo is well and truly back and working to full capacity.
Loved your Solicitor's comment! Struck me that a slight re-work (along the lines of "How to get from where you are to where you deserve to be") could make a good strapline for your new book. Perhaps the main title could be a play on words to reflect the driver/passenger analogy + mind-mapping. Something like "Route mapping to a better life"?
Can't wait to read about the next leg of your journey.

MG, I am coming to the conclusion that MSE Forums are the most powerful marketing tool I think I have ever seen!
Word of mouth is powerful, but this forum seems to be even more so. Incredible! I shall keep thinking though, in case another creative idea comes to me!
I think the working title of "71p and three nappies" is excellent, and it would stick out on the shelves of Waterstones!Attract more people to it perhaps?

MG, how fast things change when you set your mind to fourth gear. Well done on seeing all of the opportunities that are being placed before you. As for forgetting us when you are rich, famous and reclining by the pool, well I have news for you. Do you think us lot of stalkers will not find you?
does that mean i am officially "famous" if I have my own stalkers??:rotfl::rotfl:
in that case - job done!!!!
and i do feel like i have moved up several gears this week - all of a sudden i seem to have found my groove again - and its been missing in action quite a while

Bob - do you think you could sound out your manager for job 1 and see if a contract would be forthcoming?? Would make you feel more secure and able to compare apple and apples if you see what i mean?
say that you are just gathering all the data to make a qualified decision as to which job or combination of jobs is most suited to your needs and requirements - they know you can do the job - but YOU need to decide if this is still appropriate for you.
i know that the whole politics in the workplace thing is pants isn't it???

Good morning MG, good morning people,
I like '71 p and three nappies'. Today can might turn out to be a great one - expecting a number of books, including a very much expected book by someone who is planning to forget about us when she is rich and famous. MG fat chance - you know that after reading your book I'll be such a force of nature (plan to read Hegel in two days and Kant in another two) that I'll be at the swimming pool with you. But we will never compete whose pool is bigger, I hope.
Also today I am expecting a book called The Principles of Success: how to get from where you are to where you deserve to be. So Greyfox, great title - this is one reason why it has been used and by no other than Jack Canfield.
MG, keep the writign going and thanks for the gentle encouragement - I have been actually writing quite a bit but it is boring academic stuff. Interestingly enough I do exactly what you suggested - write first. This week is rather busy here. Being back from three weeks away and in couple of weeks I off on my travels again.
But the Universe is with us.

Just wanted to say a huge 'thank you' as my book has just landed on the mat!
So am now planning on completing my tasks for the day, doing my run and then treating myself to a long bath and read this evening.
Feel as though my 'lost' motivation has just arrived from the postlady.
have a great day one and all

ok - a post composed for crickett - but anyone else that is building a business can read along too:D
word of Mouth - absolutely the most powerful way of marketing your business, but from my observations there are people who don't really see the power of this concept in its explosive magical fullness.
Imagine that we in this thread are a networking business group - call us A.
now what has happened over the last few days is that one of our group (me) hit a financial crisis and the business group A responded by buying directly from me. Absolutely brilliant (you will never believe how brilliant BTW) - but that market has a very limited client pool. its restricted to how many people are in the group, have read or posted along, have built up a relationship over time and have built up enough of a level of trust to purchase directly from me.
In case you are wondering that is why i have sent all the books requested - even those who payments haven't been made yet - becasue I trust that they will be.
so once everyone who is the business group A who is in the market for my particular product (in this case a book, but it could be a product, seminar or service) then the sales stop and you have no client base to market to.
are you with me so far??
Now research shows that most families have connections with about 1000 people on an annual basis. I know i was shocked too - but go have a look at your christmas card list, a family of three here, a family of seven there and it soon begins to mount up even before you look at any business contacts you may have acquired.
so for ease of numbers, lets say there are 100 people on this thread that want to build their business or help others build theirs (if you think thats daft let me assure you I have been contacted over the last few days by people asking "how can i help you achieve your dreams?"
so 100 peeps who each know 1000 peeps = 100,000 peeps. thats a lot of people you can potentially market to.
the secret is you have to build a realtionship with your original 100 so that they are very happy to refer your services to the people they know and that takes committment, time and effort. something the "make a sale and move it on" style of marketing bod never really makes an effort with.
So - say if our beautiful hypnotherapists created a list of 100 people who were willing to help them build their business, educated them well on the benefits of their therapy and then asked the magic question
"who do you know who would also benefit from ............ stopping smoking, losing weight, managing their stress, setting and acheiving goals, sleeping better???"
well people want to help people - i am certain they would refer people directly to out therapists. just imagine a steady stream of clients coming to your door because "so and so send me!" - a person they trust, trusts you and therefore you are the therapist of choice.
of course once you have a new client you add them to your hot 100 list and start the process of educating them in how to keep an eye open for great referrals - you maybe even reward these referrals in unexpected and delightful ways. random baskets of muffins or cookies delivered to their workplace with a thank you card - gets them talking about you at work - and maybe even referring you to a workmate.
so your numbers begin to climb expotentially
100 peeps knowing 1000 peeps = 100,000 peeps. if only 1% refer you in the first year, and your average sale is £100 (for ease of numbers) then your turnover in year 1 is :
100,000 / 100 x 1 = 1000 referrals X £100 = £100,000
are you still with me???
the real secret of word of mouth marketing is to look beyond your business group A to all the other people that your original group can connect you with.
Its still work - thats why its called Net"working" not net"playing" but for me I can't help thinking that helping others to achieve their hearts desire is a better way of working than the old model.
My heart is racing now because i think this could really be a great idea for a thread (or maybe a blog hosted elsewhere) where we can pool our resources and all achieve amazing things together.
What do you think??
and apologies for the length of my ramblings this morning
