Hi rhubarbandcustard (I so hope you are named for the cartoon characters)

The book is what one poster here described as “the user manual for the brain” – (I love that!!!)

In one book I have blended together the skills of mind mapping, memory techniques, speed and range reading and tied it all together with a step-by-step study skills programme.

I used the book over the last year with some local secondary school students and they have done phenomenally well in their Highers and are all off for exciting pastures new.

So far I have had excited PM’s from not only students up through school and university, but trainee lawyers, loads of accountants (whew!!! They have quite a workload don’t they), a group of year 3 doctors, people wanting to return to study and work, OU students galore (think that could be a nice market to work with) and a lady who works with a local authority down south who would like me to come and launch their annual conference………….

…………….And a lovely email from a barrister in a famous London court – who asks that the next time I am in the big smoke will I please come to tea!!!! – and chat with all his articled clerks. How very “Judge John Deed” – lol

A huge, huge thank-you to everyone who has bought a book over the last few days – you have not only dug me out of a very grim Child Tax Credit hole, but you have achieved something magical.

I now remember who I used to be………………

…………. You see having been credit crunched I have kind of been licking my wounds and scraping along the bottom of the ladder, managing to survive each petty financial crisis by getting busy and getting creative. Being a good mum – but not being the best Mum my boys could see.

……………I had entirely “forgotten” that I used to have this truly amazing and exciting life, writing books, running seminars and training, delivering keynotes, - but more importantly really delivering something that people found useful and valuable and that changed some peoples life-courses entirely.

Maybe it took for me to lose everything to come to that realisation that I need to go back and be in the place that I can deliver the most impact.

So thank you. Thank you, thank you – in the last three days you guys have made me face facts and make some serious decisions (and you just thought you were buying a book LOL)

I now have the outline of my “Killer keynote” – which is all about “Getting IT” – getting the life you deserve by being the driver and not a passenger.

I have blasted through my book – probably written 5000 words in the last 24 hours (and they are pretty good words I think). The book has a working title of “71p and three nappies” – which was my financial position when I got credit crunched by the Bank and they left me and the kids with nothing. As for it’s real title, time will tell.

Some friends have read the stuff I have written and despite the depressing working title they comment that it’s “motivational dynamite”, “kitchen table coaching” a “nuts n bolts way of getting from pants to paradise” (My best friend so forgive her) and most importantly “the book that tells it as it is, wart n all so that you can move on from here – to where you deserve to be” (believe it or not that ones from my solicitor!!!!!)

So a couple of weeks finishing the first draft and I will be ready for the universe to put some publishers in front of me in the queue at LIDL’s – lol.

My “old” training seminars have been dusted off and refreshed – just as firewalker suggested – so now have courses ready to rock n roll for
    • Students of school age (from about 8 upwards)
    • Teacher training course
    • Professional training (for those that need to study and work at the same time)
    • Bespoke programme (the one for dental, doctor, law and accountancy type jobs where the examples are course specific)

Last night I also finally finished the 52 week on-line course – where the contents of the book are delivered on-line in 52 10 minute chunks throughout the year – this has gone over to a friend who will make it look beautiful and will animate al the examples to make it really cool. After that I have to meet up and so some filming and recording for web-casts n stuff.

Thank you universe for sending these people my way to get me motivated and focussed and I trust that when the time is right you will sent the right people to make this a truly successful and rewarding journey.

PS sorry for the length, got a bit excited guys

Wow! I'm first in line for the book - if you want a proof-reader, happy to help as I'm a stickler for some things, firm but fair that kind of thing, lol :):)

Now I want to look through this thread for inspiration on the 100 day challenge stuff so I can work on my self-motivation!

Does "71p" have to be an actual, physical book at the moment? (Although I understand an advance would be nice...:D)
Because you could publish an ebook and the money flows straight to you from anywhere in the world at any time of day...

  • Excellent stuff MG. :) You so totally rock.

If you think we have been your motivation, believe you me, it is NOTHING in comparison to the motivation that you have given us.

Whilst financially I am not so badly off as some, emotionally and motivationally I was totally at rock bottom. I was whinging and whining at an olympic level. Your trials and tribulations have taught me to count myself lucky, count my blessings and get my a$$ moving to change the things I do not like. To say nothing of introducing me to "The Secret". Totally amazing stuff. Thank You.

Let me know if you want me to start thinking up marketing ideas for your goods and services. I have a couple of ideas bubbling away already! :)

Well done Memory Girls it sounds like you've had a very busy and productive couple of days!

Thank you for such an inspiring diary, the tips, receipes, inspiration and enthusiam are all a really great read, and I have no doubt your book will be too when it's published.

I am not studying at the moment but would be interested to look at a link to your other books and see if they might be of inspirational help to me, I will PM you for the link. Mind you I am currently pregnant and due in 4 weeks so can hardly remember what I said 5 minutes ago, maybe not the best time to try and retrain my brain!?? Courgette, I am really feeling for you being so overdue and wishing you a safe delivery of your gherkin soon (sounds like ordering a takeaway!)

Good luck and best wishes to you all

Thanks for that crickett1234 - nice to know that our random ramblings have helped in some way.

As fro the marketing - you know, i'm thinking all bets are off .......... the more creative the better, its a new business (albeit with a tried and tested product) so it would be great tolook at it with totally fresh eyes.
