apologies to all waiting for a response to pm's - all my responses are timing out at the mo. i will try to respond at the library too.

Another person just de-lurking to say what a fabulous, inspiring, amazingly fantabulous thread this is. Totally brilliant! I have just read it from the first page (and promised myself i would not post until I had got up to date). This thread has given me a much needed kick in the pants, and I am so grateful for that. (It has taken me 3 days of reading it during my lunch hour whilst at work!!)
Trying to work out if I should buy "The Secret" from the actual bookshop (so I can read it sooner!) or from Amazon and wait for it to be delivered. Hmmm... think impatience will get the better of me.Not very MSE, but the Universe will make it up to me, hopefully!

Thank you once again.
The Universe says Amazon, Crickett - it is not a price but a patience thing. Part of the law of attraction is that good things come to the ones who can wait for them.
Enjoy it whatever you decide and remember that the secret is not in reading it but in implementing it: this is where many people fail. And the implementation demands patience, concentration and hard work.

Firewalker, thank you for that... I had already ordered it from Amazon, after arriving at a similar conclusion! I think that is a good sign that the Universe and I (or at least, you and I) are on the same wave length! And it was cheaper than RRP as well, so good on the MSE front as well! I am looking forward to sitting down on Saturday, curled up on the sofa and reading the book.
You can't implement until you've read it, and reading does give me such pleasure! In fact, I am visualising it as well. Y'know, just practising!

Well i would go for the cheaper option-if it is cheaper from amazon, then get it from there-That would MSE KarmaBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

AAAArrrghhhhh!!!
letter arrived this morning from Healthy start saying i am no longer eligible because HMRC have not confirmed my entitlement!!!!!!!
so ctx peeps screw up - i am left with no money for at least two weeks - and now they are even taking the milk out of the babies beaker!!!!!!!
I can so understand how people are thrown into the arms of doorstep lenders - but its a pretty sorry state of affairs when its the benefits people who are forcing you into debt.
well the baby can't do without milk until this is sorted out -so off to jiggle my food budget a bit to find the extra £12.60 thats been stopped.

Morning MG - sorry you are having all this aggro . Good job you are so savvy . Glad you got your connection back.

This makes me so angry. It seems to me that rather than the poorest people being helped and treated with the respect they deserve they just get kicked whilst down constantly. I am so fed up hearing about this kind of thing happening and it is just not on. Sorry for ranting but I feel so angry on your behalf. Will you be ok to juggle your budget? If not get on the phone to the CTC line and tell them to get it sorted by sending something through to the Healthy Start people to say that they have c**ked up yet again. Surely they should sort it out for you. Or then again you will get Wayne or Tracy with a headset saying Computer says no!!!!!!! It is time that the people who work for the agencies took some responsibility to sort things out instead of blaming it on the system all of the time. I used to work for the Benefits Agency and if I ever had a customer whose benefit had been messed up, and I took the call then I took the responsibility to make sure that it was sorted and quickly. These people in call centres dont realised that they are messing with peoples lives here.
Sorry, I am now going for a lie down and a deep breath. Hope you are ok MGSome days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
Look on the bright side cherisong - i have a great food store of all the staples now, and a freezer thats pretty well stocked - so life may be spartan and a bit light on fresh fruit for a while - but we won't starve (thankfully i realised very early on that there is no "safety net" when the "safety net" of benefits goes awry)
as for those poor souls in the call centres? Well i don't think they care one iota, but think of all the karma they are paying back having to work in such an environment. I'm sure none of them realise they are one phone call away from being in the same position I found myself in.
the whole ctx system really isn't fit for purpose btw - as someone who has had to rely on tax credits for survival this last while (and had my credits stopped twice in thelast year) i am almost at the stage where i am scared to phone them because you never know how long it will take them to sort it out this time.
happy friday - eh?
Actually one great thing happened today - and old "flame" called me from a mahjong tournament he is at - just to say he was thinking about me and how great he still thought i was, and that if things had been different..................... Its nice when people think nicely of you like that,
And when I say "flame" - more a smoulder because i've never actually been single when he has been between wives so we've never really , erm!!! connected/?? lol. But I have fancied him for over 20 years now, and we are pretty good friends so I think if it hasn't happened by now it really is never going to.
So where is that perfect man for me? Well i bet you he is busy having a wonderful time and this evening as he sits and enjoys a glass of wine in his lovely home he will be thinking "this would be perfect if i had a lovely wife and some kids"
Better go now cos i am rambling
memorygirl
btw I am still wearing my 24 pieces - how is everyone else doing? At the stage that i think I might swap my maxi-dress for a warmer wrap dress for winter though.
