I would wait until the 28th May when Apple have stated the iPad is in the UK. Main reason due to the fact yank ipad users are complaining we will be getting it cheaper and higher specApproach her; adore her. Behold her; worship her. Caress her; indulge her. I have chance to visit 7 stores if necessary (doing a bit of touring) and I believe that since the release of the 3G some pressure has been taken off the sales of the wi-fi, but if I don't manage to get one I won't pay the extra duty etc. to have it imported. I'll just have to accept it's not for me.
I acknowledge it isn't a perfect fit for everything and to me it's an extravagance (which is nice) so I will have to decide what I am willing to pay as the dollar rate is dropping by the day too.
Dont forget, iPads are also sold at Best Buy, so you don't have to buy from an Apple Store.0 -
Pre-ordered my 64Gb WiFi via the Apple Store this morning (25% discount via Work). I also ordered the keyboard stand/interface.
Soon to be moving in to an £8 million pound new HQ (September-ish). We have been told that shelf space is limited, so leave your cardboard brains at home (notebooks). So rather than carry 3 x (full) A4 ring binders around with me, I have the iPad instead.
I am forever dipping in and out of my books for some obscure Solaris UNIX command, or Nortel, Cisco, Thales, Allied Telesyn, APC or older 3Com "fixes". The iPad is the perfect device for putting all my Notes and Manufacturers PDF's on. Including a few iTunes downloaded TV series for those quieter moments.
This portable device was just what I was looking for.0 -
thought it was out here already.
how much is this tat going to cost?
If I gave my view on the type of person who has an iphone, you get the general impression of anyone who has an iplate.
how long does the battery last on these things.0 -

Battery lasts about 10-11 hrs this is reduced to about 9 hrs if using 3G
Hope this helps0 -

$499 + 6% sales tax= $529 at today's Visa rate ( I don't pay any charges) = £353
Price here £429 inclusive of VAT. No vat or import duty to pay (under£390 allowance), so a difference of £76
unless dollar rate changes, which I will keep an eye on.
"and you need to include VAT on the UK amount" If the VAT wasn't included in the UK price it would be a BIGGER difference.
Brought a few back from the states and paid no import charges as they are classed as a laptop but were charged vat on each one :mad:0 -

Ah yes the "instant on" lappie, with a great battery life.
Apple report unprecedented pre-orders for the iPad, so they must be doing something right.0
