Fine, suppose you won't be logging into his account either then to cancel the DD?

You just rang and used his details to try to get the matter sorted, so what is the difference?

He likely forgot to turn data off on the iphone. As we all know, the Iphone is notorious for doing it's data updates/check in the background.

That's not his actual tel no that's the one they initially allocated but it;s different now ;)

I just spoke to them and explained the situation and asked them to call him, take him through security and explain but I don't know if they'll do it...

That's a clue to what happening on the bill

It's got a month on one tariff, then has been altered to a different tariff

correction: looking at the pro rata timing, it looks like the same tariff

For some reason, there's one deal on 23 Mar, then a new deal has been added on there from 1st Apr, the first refunded for the rest of the first period, and early termination charges put on there for the first one.

It certainly needs some discussion of the misunderstandings that caused all this ...

    O2 30 on iPhone 24 month: 01 Apr 10 - 23 Apr 10 -£18.95
    O2 30 on iPhone 24 month: 31 Mar 10 - 22 Mar 12 £605.43
    O2 30 on iPhone 24 month: 31 Mar 10 - 23 April 10 £19.77
    O2 30 on iPhone 24 month: 24 Apr 10 - 23 May 10 £25.54
I can see he changed from pay as you go to contract and was credited £19.75 so this will be taken off his bill.

I'm guessing this is his first bill? First bills are usually charged for the month ahead too hence the two charges from
    31 Mar 10 - 23 Apr 10 £19.77 and
    24 Apr 10 - 23 May 10 £25.54

which should bring the total to £45.31 (£25.56 when his credit is applied).

He has only incurred extra charges of £0.17p for Messages so his bill should be £25.73 plus VAT.

The obvious mistake is the charge of £605.43 from 31 Mar 10 - 22 Mar 12. This should/will be credited back to his account.

I am in complete agreement, this is a billing mistake. They have been charged for 24 months in one go.

02 will clear this up quickly, and if they take out any money out the bank account and charges are incurred 02 will be liable to pay them back due tt their error.!

O2 once charged me £100 instead of crediting me £100. They do make mistakes, but they also fixed it quite quickly.

You were lucky. They altered my tariff for no discernible reason and after 4 months of phone calls and emails I left them since they had broken the terms of the contract.
