Made some white chocolate and cranberry cookies yesterday morning....didn't last very long, as they were all gone by yesterday afternoon. OH decided that they were very nice and couldn't resist continually dipping in. He usually complains about the amount of washing up I create for him, but he never moans about the cakes / biscuits etc...

Finally managed to get hold of a moses basket at the weekend. Was only £13.99 from Argos. Didn't want to spend a fortune on one, but knew that it would be a useful thing to have once bean puts in an appearance. We're going to have to pay regular visits to family and it'll be nice to have somewhere familiar for the little one to sleep wherever we are.

Did the shopping at Tescos....did find some of the Health and Beauty leaflets and they worked a treat. Got some stuff that we needed anyway, and some treats for us. Still have a few vouchers left, so may have another go next weekend.

OH had a blitz of the house friday afternoon and evening so there's nothing to be done there. He even put some washing in this morning. Ain't he good.

Got some pork mince out for tea....will probably do some spag bol with it.

Morning :D ... There seem to be lots of wedding anniversaries around at the moment ... s'pose it's that time of year ... If my parents were still together it would be their 31st anniversary this Wednesday (16th August) which is also my aunt and uncle's anniversary ... Our church organist and his wife had their 17th anniversary last weekend, and are off for a child-free holiday to Greece today to celebrate ... that's if they ever get through check-in at Heathrow  ... Belated happy birthday to Elona, I hope you had as lovely a day as possible under the circumstances :) ... I'm at w**k today and hoping for some news from my solicitors, as the last I heard they were still waiting for the draft contracts from the HA's solicitor ... Wish that whoever's dealing with it would get their @rse in gear and get on with it ... Still grey and damp in London, though not raining ... except in our bathroom, LOL ... the plumber's coming out this afternoon but I don't know whether that means that the leak will get fixed today or just "assessed" ... The leak means there isn't enough water pressure in the shower to trigger the boiler to come on ... The only way of getting a warm shower is to gently run the hot tap in the basin at the same time, which keeps the boiler going ;) ... Good job we're not on a meter - though if we were, you can bet that my housemate would have agreed to have it seen to when it STARTED leaking  ... someday soon I will have my own place and full control over when the plumber gets called - LOL! ... Am in the good books with housemate at the mo, as I designed some spreadsheets for him yesterday ... Breakfast was takeaway bagel & coffee (sorry :o) but am determined I will not have another week of spending £25 on takeaway lunches  ... Lunch today and tomorrow will be cheese sacchetini (like ravioli in the shape of little duffle bags) with pesto, brought from home ... Am also placing a ban on buying ANY groceries except fresh fruit and veg etc, as I have a freezer that's chock full (I really do have enough meat to last at least a month) and am trying to run my stocks down for the move ... Anyway, must go ... Hope everybody's OK ... PP, you make sure you get your clots checked out ... See you later ... Rzl

Hi again everyone! Just a quick question - does anyone on here know of a good book that could help me on how to teach the youngest to swim. He's allready 7 - did try lessons a couple of years ago, but they had overcrowded the lesson to say the least - combination of far too many in too small a space, strong chlorine and DS having very sensitive eyes meant he was put off the pool for a long time. He is now VERY happy in the pool, but I'm at a loss as to how to get him to progress. Lessons are a no go because the waiting list is over a year long (18months I believe!!)
    Thanks in advance :D

Not very helpfull I know but my DD's never had lessons, I just found that by playing in the water and making sure it was always fun, was enough, they soon learn how to move if they're all trying to dive for a ring, or first one to get the float gets a treat when we get out...etc..... Both DD's (10 and 8) are now good swimmers and confident enough to swim in the deep end. Just go as regularly as possible.

Our DS1 taught DS2 to swim - mainly I think by holding his legs up & getting him to paddle like mad to keep the front end up! (They told us this later, by the way!)
However, he swims very well now, so it must have worked!

Morning all, you have all been busy this morning.

Bargainrzl - it's my parents anniversary this Wednesday!! They have been married for 57 years now, I don't know how they haven't killed each other before now, they certainly were attempting it when I was young.

Kaz, sorry, no advice on the swimming as I can't swim :D Good news about the holiday though. I was looking at the Haven website last night and they are offering a 7 night holiday for the price of 3 (yippee, just nipped up and spoke to DH and he told me to book it). p.s. will PM you later about Wednesday.

Have a good day all, I have the washing mountain to scale and then I hope to take the kids out blackberrying if the weather picks up.

Had a lovely weekend, Friday night was good fun, rolled home at 4 and DD got me up at 7!!

Felt a bit ropey all day Saturday as was drinking dreadful white wine, it's a long time since I drank anything that bad, but didn't dare change as always feel worse when I mix my drinks. Ended up mixing it lots of water to hide the tatse!!! Didn't achieve much Saturday although DH took us out for lunch which was lovely.

Sunday, blitzed the house and made raspberry and white chocolate muffins.
dinner was jacket pots, lots of veggies and broccoli and ham (left over from Friday dinner) bake.

Have made beds, unloaded DW, swished b'room and house looks lovely. Am swimming with DH and kids after work and then will need to make a nursery tea for the kids (boiled eggs and toast soldiers) and once they are tucked up in bed off to Asda's to shop as my cupboards are bare.

Still haven't got our suitcase back despite being told it would be Saturday morning and us waiting in. Am waiting for a call now, but getting extremely fed up.

    Have a lovely day all.

Thanks Pooky and Chips for the tips. Moggins - thought it was the 17th (Thursday) you were coming to wales - or have I got confused? Doesn't matter which - either is good for me.
Seem to be getting nowhere fast. Have done two loads of ironing, one load wash on line, towels in TD, another load in WM, bread nearly finished, forms all completed, toms all watered - but house is still a tip, so looks like I've done nowt. End result? Serious case of munchies..... GIVE ME CHOCOLATE!!!!

Ignore me Kaz, I'm just going bonkers! Yes it is the 17th which is Thursday :( I'm getting highly confused because of these muppets at Haven. They are quoting on their website 7 nights for the price of 3 which is £169.00, I only rang up because I didn't seem to be getting the right price, now they're coming up with all kinds of excuses saying that the 3 night price shown is already discounted etc etc (you know what I mean) I told them this was misleading information and he's now taken it back to the internet team.

Well they can get stuffed now because I have just rung Howells Leisure where we had such a great holiday 2 years ago and a week in their top class caravans will only cost £107, it's a lovely site, great staff, cheap beer, so guess where we are going instead? Trouble is I can't book a 2007 holiday until the brochure comes out in October.
