I didn't have 743 items when I started this challenge and stopped buying. I probably only had a few more items than I have now.

I got rid of some of it by e-baying but also I think about 100 of those items were tealights that I had on my list and also what I have managed to use up over the years.

Didn't post a picture at the start, to be honest I don't know how to (and no it's not because of the embarrassment, I'm not embarrassed by it just fed up that I have so much stuff and can't try things I would like to try :(). It's currently stored in 6 collapsible crates, 3 drawers in my chest of drawers and two little drawers in my bedside table. I am getting through it though and am pleased to say that I'm not buying anything like I used to (I could easily place an Avon order every campaign which is every 3 weeks  hence why I'm in this situation).

I did treat myself to the Liz Earle TSV back in February and also to a Leighton Denny crystal nail file because I'd always wanted one and am now only buying things on an as and when needed basis. I have definitely come a long way since my days as an Avon rep and I'm sure one day, Sales Addict, you will become more like me and realise there is more to life than Avon or whatever your brand vice is.

Keep up the good work and we'll both get through this together.

Thanks Lynsey, I am doing a lot better. But still far from perfect :o

Alternatively - any recommendations for a very cheap night cream or alternative?

I agree with shadowsfall about the BS carrot moisturiser. I'm using it as a night cream atm as it lovely and rich. It feels quite heavy when you first put it on but sinks in really quick and I'm pleased with the results so far. If you decide to go for that one check out the grabbit thread for the 50% off code.

I placed another BS order today:eek: But its ok as I was ordering it on behalf of my OH. Since I bought MC for the free Love etc body butter I've been using it as a hand cream and OH loves the smell of it on me:smileyhea He kept going to order me some but in true MSE style I told him to wait until a good offer came along. So today I got some of the EDP(£12), a cosmetic bag(£6), a peppermint cooling foot spray(£5) and a moringa milk body lotion(£8) for a grand total of £8.50 plus 15% quidco. I so love a bargain even when I'm not paying for it:rotfl:

Pleased to say I have a few more use-ups to report:

Roc Eye Gel (the never-ending one!) - this was extremely money-saving as it was only a little tube (15ml I think) but has lasted months. I finally cut the tube open at the start of the week and got a couple more days worth out of it. It was part of a set of Roc facial products and I probably would buy it again if I saw it on offer. Nice texture and helped minimise my fine lines. I have now moved on to a half-finished Virgin Vie Wide-Awake Eye Gel.

Avon Strawberry Smoothie shower gel - it was ok, quite nice fragrance but nothing that special. WIBA? Maybe if on offer .

Avon Senses Lagoon shower gel - nice fresh fragrance, quite unisex and good for first thing in the morning to help wake you up. More likely to buy this one again than the strawberry one from Avon actually.

My Smiley shower gel has one more use in it I think, and I've just cut open a tube of Boots spa firming body lotion (travel size) that is so old I don't remember ever buying it. It was opened long ago and never finished, so I am using that on my feet at night for now - probably two more uses left.

I thought I would have to buy cotton wool pads at the start of this week, but whilst hunting around for something else found an unopened pack in one of my cupboards - result! So no pennies spent yet this month, although toothpaste and mouthwash will need to be bought soon.

Keep going everybody! Oh and not too much talk about the joys of epilating or else the guy who joined the challenge will never dare to come back! lol

    Finally I used up something!

Finished my Aldi Sianna Night Cream. WIBA - probably, affordable and I like everything about it.

I wasn't anywhere near an Aldi and didn't know when I'd get out again so I picked up an anti-wrinkle night cream from Dunes (I'm in Ireland). It's called 'Bellecare Skin Plus Regenrative Night Cream with Q10'. Made in Switzerland, which is always confidence inspiring as anything I've had from there seems to be good quality, I also noticed the fresh faced lady in the checkout Q before me had some in her shopping - that was encouraging. Anyways will report back in due time.
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

OK, dilemma. I need some more night cream pretty soon and the Time Delay stuff is £5 off at the moment. My challenge was to not buy anything with the Time Delay £5 off voucher when it starts next week - can I buy it now while it's just £5 off on the shelf edge?! ;)

Alternatively - any recommendations for a very cheap night cream or alternative?

I am using this one at the moment and quite like it. I didn't pay full price I think it was on promotion at 1/2 price when I bought, but I prefer it to the Aldi one and when I manage to get through all the face creams I still have left then I would buy this again, especially if I managed to find on promotion.

    Morning,

    Used up:
'So' body spray - quite nice, a strong smell. WIBA - probably.

Can everyone stop talking about body shop glitches, this isn't helping my resolve! Lead us not into temptation...

I've used up a small pot of foot cream today. It was one I had as a present in a Next gift pack. It was called Retreat Total Detox and it claimed to cool and refresh tired feet. I must admit I hadn't rushed to use this one as I didn't think it would be much good (it had a blancmange like texture!). I was surprised that I loved it though. I loved how it absorbed so easily and it really did cool the feet. WIBA? Yes, it would be good to cool and refresh feet in the summer, although it's best asset was not moisturising! I probably won't be able to get hold of this product again though. I've got an opened tube of Avon foot cream (with about a third left in) which I must use up next.

It's a friend's birthday next week and I've decided to give her a Botanics toiletry bag gift set which I bought in the January sales. I bought it with the intention of it being a present for someone but I've had my eye on it for myself. It's got some nice miniature toiletries inside it and two zipped netted compartments to help keep toiletries segregated and tidy. I'm very proud of myself that I'm able to part with it and it will reduce my stash.

    Morning all,

Hope you all are well. Lovely day over here so will be going out soon.

I have used up a few products since I last posted. I used up a sample of Nivea visage DNA cell renewal eye crea. WIBA? Yes, I thought this was a great cream to use. Also, used up Nivea Moisturising after sun lotion. WIBA? No, I tend to avoid spending time in the sun so is definetely not a product I need. I used it up as a hand cream in the end.

Last week my OH bought me a set of 5 x 5ml Dior perfumes. What a surprise and I really like them. I must have around 20 small bottles of EDT and perfumes now, I tend to prefer buying the small ones instead of full size bottles which I often get bored half way through.

I have a lot of half used up hair styling products. I have now started to use them up by mixing the product with a bit of smoothing fluid from Aveda and suddenly they work much better for me. I have very dry hair and the smoothing fluid doesn't dry out my hair. Last time I had a haircut my hairdresser told me that a lot of products and especially mousse dries out hair and suddenly I got this idea about mixing with the fluid.

I would find it really useful to hear what ideas you got to help you using up your products?

I have put a lip gloss on the shelf by the hall way mirror so the last thing I do when I leave the house is to put the gloss on. Rather than having hand cream on my desk at work I now have a small bottle of body lotion from a hotel.

Enjoy your weekend and happy pampering.

    Becky

Becky2 - fab idea about the lipgloss near the hallway mirror. Might pop one in the car too!
