Re the epilator question LIR, when mine acts like that I clean it with it's wee hard brush. Also, make sure you're not lotioning up before hand as that clogs the tweezers. Beware of pushing too hard btw - ouchy more likely!
P.s I didn't wince! The pain does lessen! I'll go into a bit more detail re the bikini line now I know ya'll won't kick me off the thread for vulgarity!
Been doing a tidy job of my bikini line for a while now. Took a bit of patience to get past the edges. I usually go for a more extreme groom IYKWIM now I'm past the "Holy carp this is excrutiating!" stage. If I can't be @ssed, I Veet btwbetter than shaving if you're planning on ep-ping again as it doesn't make the hair so course and cause it to be more painful to remove.
Sit in aforementioned unflattering postion (no OHs present would be preferable unelss you're very close!) and pull the area you're about to do taut (as taut as poss without hurting), then glide over the edges, slowly working your way across. As LIR says, doing a bit then rolling backwards can help desensitize. You can also numb the area with a cold flannel - sexy! - however if you warm the skin the pores open and the hair comes out easier. See what works best for you. You will build up a tolerance - the hair grows back much thinner and lighter so it comes out more and more easily. I have a few patches on my legs where nothing grows at all now! I usually ep after a shower/bath as the pores have opened up and I find this works well for me.
Re underarms, it's pretty much the same - I stick my elbow in the air and push it against a wall so the skin is taut without me pulling it. When I first ever had my underarms waxed after shaving for years I bled some: I find epilating hurts less because it doesn't pull out so many hairs - the wee ones stay there.
In all cases, just take it slowly and calmly. If it's hurting a bit then give it a gentle rub with your hand. I'd suggest continuing with the same area because otherwise it will hurt more if you leave it for a few minutes. Obv if it's really sore wait for it to heal for a few days - this is fairly rare though newbies! After each time always moisturise with a light lotion (as said before, I add a drop of tea tree as my skin likes this, I suppose you could use lavender too).
This is taking me back to the first time I investigated my mom's epilator... wow. Did it sting. I was appauled at the ferocity! Now, it's a MS blessing and it feels fine. Plus you stay smooth for yonks.
Wow, didn't realise I had that much to say about the wonderful world of ep-ing!!
What a fantastic post but even though I've had two babies i'm still not going to try any of this lark. Lucky for me my body hair is very fine and fair. I will stick to depilatory creams:D0 -

Just a teensy use-up to report.
A little sample size no 7 handcream, which yielded an amazing 3 more applications when the tube was cut open.
Pretty please......Any recommendations for a fairly powerful, lightweight travel hairdryer? Need to get one this weekend. Coincidentally someone has just posted on the I Wanna.... ( I hate that Board title, sounds so loutish!!), but hasn't received any useful responses yet, so thought I'd check out the rich seam of knowledge over here!
Thank you!0 -
Bonjourno!
salesaddictI do too when I cba with the whole job. Bronnie I'm sure you'll get some great suggestions on here before I get to post again - I'll find out what one my mom uses anyway, it's teeny and folds up though it has a powerful (for a wee thing) blast. Mineallmine great suggestions for getting rid of some stash items... might just try a few.
Well done on the U-Ups. During the day I finished a sample of Hemp Hand Cream from BS. Was very good moisturising and stayed in my skin well. Stayed at OHs last night so didn't make a dent in the stash... got the weekend though! He saw the pics on my phone last night of my stash... he was quite shocked that I could fit all of it in the tiny cupboard over my bed. I told him that I can be quite resourceful if I try! :rotfl:
That's all thus far today, ladies. Any Ep results to report?0 -
I've used up a Simple roll on deodrant. I bought a replacement in readiness last week. I don't keep a stock of deodrants, well they are not very exciting are they?! I am sensitive under my arms and therefore use perfume free deodrant and as Simple is 99p from Home Bargains I have no need to stockpile.
My BS Bergamot body butter also got used up this morning.
You are all very brave with epilating. I'm not brave enough and wouldn't have the patience! I have to confess I'm having a leg and bikini wax tomorrow, not very MSE but I see it as essential grooming.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
I went to Boots this morning to try and stock up on the Pure Moisture body lotion that I've heard is 25p - but none to be found
I do have 8 bottles from the last time they reduced them however so not really a problem and now I don't have anything to confess!
No use ups to report, nearly at the end of my Clean,Girls S&G shower gel though xMy debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

I have been reading this and last months threads, we're moving in the BF so goinf to use up the little stash I have which is a few shampoo's, Johnsons Holiday tan bosy lotions(3 bottles) and loads of sample body lotions which I will use when the Johnsons have gone :-)
Really my little stash could fit in a carrier bag but it needs using up0 -
morning all
used up a pump dispenser of hand soap (another one out of the stash to replace it)
littlest DS used up his tube of toothpaste (last one now out of stash need to look out for offers on that again)
mashed up two more almost used lippys and refilled my little pot - youd be surprised how much lippy is hidden away in the bottom of the tube that giets wasted unless you winkle it out.
used the last of a bottle of head and shoulders this morning. still got tons of shampoo in the stash.
will need to buy cotton wool pads this weekend.
happy pampering all:jSPC~12 ot 124

a lip brush is ideal for this - although i've rarely reached this pointlol
tried the epilating last night (bikini line and not thighs lol) when very tired and it really didn't hurt, just a tiny bit of a sting compared to the arms! I'm a true convert! I missed a bit but thats because I was tired and not paying attention so will be redoing it this weekend or early next week!
I've come to the conclusion that my arms hurt more from the epliator as they aren't used to being waxed etc so it probably wasn't a fair comparison. Thanks very much for the guidance girls it was much appreciated (and followed lol)
had a splutter from a clean and clear daily facial wash/gentle scrub - good as it has lasted a good 5 months!!! madness!! very MSE and it was nice to use so when I have finished similar items in my stash I may purchase again!
Started back on my tesco fake tan last night for a more natural look and to use it up, and have been remarked today that i have a nice glow! it's very natural and light which is good, as now i'm used to a stronger fake tan with a guide colour, I was a bit worried about it going streaky but my worries were unfounded. it's just how i remember it to be!:T
So at least I won't be orange for my Westlife concert tonight!
Have a good day girls x0
