Today has been a minimal spend day; had to spend £3 on jiffy bags from Poundland because I have sold books on Greenmetropolis.com which need to be sent out to their new owners. Other than that, no spends today.0

Hooray another NSD so three in total. Feeling really tired today because I sat up all night!Trying to keep in budget.

I've slept most of the day as I was up all night watching the election! It has made today an NSD so far, though my friendhas just asked if I want to meet them in the pub. I'm taking the car and hoping to stick to water (thankfully I don't like fizzy juice!) but I may need to eat before I go otherwisethe pizzas they do there will win! Or the crisps. I do not want to lose an NSD to a bag of crisps!
Plus if I get today, I'm halfway there and I can then spend to my hearts content tomorrow - though hopefully I might have wee bit of birthday money so I could maybe still get away with an NSD tomorrow.
What's the rules on spending birthday money on yourself?(I mkae it sound like I'll be getting a fortune - I'm hoping for a tenner at most, which will let me go mad in my favourite charity shops :rotfl:)

Hi All,
Today was a little bit spendy, but that was to stock up on stuff so that I can leave my purse at home for the next two weeks.
67p pack 6 hula hoops for work next week
78p 6 wagon wheels for work next week
67p l litre cola for snacky drinking at work
£1 Timotei shampoo 400ml-this replaces the £11 i normally spend on Kerastase
£1.79 lavender oil-multi use, but mostly for keeping clothes moths at bay, and for nice nights sleep
45p toilet budget toilet roll
67p fishcakes for dinner
99p (ok £4.95 with postage) replacement white linen skirt from ebay to wear in the summer.
£10.98
No alchohol bought for the weekend, which saves money, lavender oil should last all year, saving £'s on anti moth satchets, skirt was to replace an ageing one, and was a bargain at 99p, timotei, Asda deal.Home made foraged Nettle beer brewing for the weekend cost £1.00 for 8 litres.
See I am spending but I'm cutting back on the my toiltries-both using old things up, and replacing needed items with £1 bargain offers rather than £10-£11 per item I used to spend.
Cutting back in 2010.
Wahooo!!!
M&S £2878.22/ Natwest £3526/ Loan £405/ [STRIKE]Sofa £0[/STRIKE]/ [STRIKE]Ring £0[/STRIKE]/
Savings £12.04 NSD 3/10 :cool:Total £6915.88

Good evening one and all, pleased to announce NSD number 3 today for me!
Might break onto a tube of Pringles tonight to celebrate ( buy one get two free at sainsbugs! so I got 3 tubes the other day. However, normal price is now £2-03 which is why I only buy pringles when they are on special offer)
Home made fish pie courtesy of Mr Oliver's Ministry of Food cookbook for tonight's meal, very nice too (cheers Jamie!) We have given up desserts during the week, reserving them for weekend meals only - helps finances, time and OH weight problem).
Tomorrow will have a few supplies to get, plus DS martial arts class, but Sunday should be another NSD.One life - your life - live it!0 -
Thrifty Fifty, that is some very impressive cutting back!! I'll bet you find there's very little difference in the quality of the shampoo as well. Its terrible how we get lured in by some fancy marketing and glossy packaging, when a product a tenth of the price does the same job. Nettle beer sounds intriguing!
Niccatw - the birthday money rules are a bit of a grey area!! I wouldn't count it as spends, as its not your money and you've already allocated it anyway if that makes sense?
I'm home safe without spending a penny, DH has sneaked for a pint after work with his mates (tut tut!) so house to myself - long hot bath with a glass of homebrew wine is calling me (after the soaps that is). 6 hours overtime at work tomorrow (woohoo!) so no excitement tonight for me (boohoo). Still got some vouchers for local farm shop (from the boss for christmas) and we've got friends over tomorrow for tea so might treat us to some nice steak:):)
Sorry for going on, look what happens when I'm home aloneHave a lovely weekend everyone! xx
Trying to jump back onto the moneysaving wagon .... :cool:0 -
Re birthday money - you can't really count that as spending, as it is cash given in lieu of a present, so you are just using a birthday present in reality! As long as you only spend that exact amount, of course, and no more! One life - your life - live it!0

Agree, Nargle, it was a present - you can't count that as a spend, that would be really unfair.
Nicca - you have permission to spend your birthday money without ruining an NSD - official!:D:D
