im going for 4 no spend days this month, but we seem to spend a little everyday, ie tues is my pilates class, weds is my sons climbing class etc etc so it is very difficult to have a nsd. Or do other people say that only unexpected spends count as spending. Views?

Can you put the money to one side on day where you'll already be spending?

I think that's how some do it :)

hi please could i join 10 n/s days for me noy sure how ill do it but going to give it a good try
That's the spirit Summerlou :T Those of us who have been doing this a while much prefer to focus on the ones we DO achieve, than dwell on the ones that trip us up. As TheBees were asking, I'll give you a brief description of how I try to manage my Challenge...
    • Decide exactly what you will or will not class as a Spend. For me, I don't count essential spends like dds, prescriptions or housing, but I do count everything else. If I have an appointment--providing the only thing I pay for is parking, fares, etc--then I don't count those as a spend either. I'm lucky that most things are easily accessible on foot but I would not include the cost of getting to & fro work in this, unless I was being lazy & had to use a taxi!
    • It's coming up to window-cleaner weather which could be a problem, but I try to keep enough cash in the 'petty cash' for that. The money goes in the jar after I get back from shopping so it's already a spend day, & I feel I'm just paying for my milk & windows in advance ;)
    • I don't have to worry about school dinners or excursions but I always used to try to put the money by a little at a time if I could, to help spread out the pain :o Me muvva still does it now to help pay for a big box of soap powder or get her hair done.

Perhaps have an envelope for each thing & put the money into it on--say--a Sunday night, then it saves all that scrabbling around just as you're going out of the door of a morning. Guess who learned that one the hard way :D HTH

Either I got too close to the red diesel or one of the aliens [they're slick movers arn't they! Flawless Macarena..] snuck back with me--eerie green glow came from the pocket of my waders last night...& nsd No 2 completed today *picks up salad tongs & gingerly advances to investigate said offending footwear...*

:wave:Hi. Could I join please and because I don't want to set myself up for a fall could I pledge 4 NSD for the month of May. Any more would be brilliant though.
Was encouraged to join by LadyfromVenice so I'm giving it a go :)

yes Taka it was, he's lovely but quite quite mad. He had a good day in company with another 9999 completely mad people.

My friend was another of those mad people. He even went for a pre-run run around Glasgow's Westend during his lunch hour last week . Completely insane!

I'dallocate the money at the beginning of the week (on a day you spend anyway) then it's all sorted and accounted for so you can have a NSD and, as Bigmumma says, not be scrambling around for coppers at the last minute.

Checking in for NSD 1 - a much better start to this month than last!

So where is it we are going this month? I've always fancied Brighton, or Liverpool... or anywhere really :). I see the transport is sorted so we don't need to worry about that, excellent!

    :wave:Hi lovely NSD gang:A
Lots of posts again today - page 5 already and only day 2... Lots of newbies joining in and good to see the regulars joining up again.

Welcome to the newbies joining us. We’re a friendly bunch on here, have a lot of laughs and occasional bouts of insanity, but we’re all committed to getting as many NSDs as possible, so keep posting and we’ll give you lots of encouragement.
summerlou: :wave:hi, of course you can join us, you’re very welcome. Signing you up for 10 NSDs.
Good for you for having a positive attitude - that’s definitely an important part of the NSD challenge - keep posting and we’ll give you lots of encouragement:):)
TheBees: :wave:hi, of course you can join us, you’re very welcome as well. Signing you up for 16 NSDs now.:)
Oh dear to DH and the possibility of redundancy - that’s not good :(- really hope we can help you to cut down on your spending. I think the only way to avoid spending is to avoid the shops completely until the NSD thing becomes addictive - which it does in time. Keep coming back here and posting, it really does help and we’ll give you lots of support as well. :)
dizzy lizzie: :wave:hi, of course you can join us, any friend of LfV is a friend of ours. Signing you up for 4 now. Good luck and keep coming back to say hello, we’ll keep you on track:)

    Welcome back to:
saorsie: hi and welcome back. I don’t think I forgot you, sorry if I did, but all signed up for 18 now:)
missylaney: hi and welcome back, signing you up for 10 NSDs for this month. Looking forward to your updates:)

BDINI: hi and welcome back, great to see you again. Signing you up for 10 - liking the positive attitude - you CAN do it.:)
Night out was definitely a riot, hope we can count on you for the next one - we’ll plan it for when you’re around
cw18: hi and welcome back again. :) Signing you up for 11 now and looking forward with envy to more tales of your bargains this month - I really could do with a job in a supermarket;)
wit40iwtwan: hi and welcome back, great to see you again. Will sign you up for 20 now - hope you manage to get back a bit more frequently this month. Fingers crossed you managed no 1 today:)
Trinny: hi and welcome back. Oooh you’ll be in trouble with BigMumma for using that “f” word. Signing you up for 7 now and look forward to lots of updates:)
mothershipton: hi and welcome back. Signing you up for 4 NSDs now. :)
I reckon that if you have regular spends each week, like your pilates class and your son’s climbing class you could allocate the money at the beginning of the week and manage to put them all into one spend day. Would that help?
Natty68: hi and welcome back. Signing you up for 15 again this month.
Of course you can stick to it - just remember to keep coming back to say hello, we’ll keep you on track:)

    Update on NSDs below.
:) The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time :)
