Listen, i don't have a clue what I'm doing! I'm winging it - first time.

Ok,the mermaid cake is ambitious at this stage, good old fairy cakes are a fine start in my opinion. Do let us know how you get on! :D

Fairy cakes are brilliant to make - do you have a freezer? I make up batches so that when my darling children come home and say "Mum I need cakes for tomorrow for sponsered whatever/non uniform day/school party and I forgot to tell you until this evening as I am going to bed" then I can whip them out of the freezer, and I cheat! I keep a pot of Betty Crockers icing in the cupboards for emergencies so I can spend 5 minutes making butterfly cakes in the morning and looking like a mother who has spent hours being organised and ensuring that she listens to every word her little darlings say :rotfl::rotfl:

Cake is always great for when friends come around for tea - never fails to impress!!

Longtermlurker you seem to be doing really well, good for you.:T I have been clinically depressed for a long time and sometimes feel so paralysed that I can't even be bothered to pick my pants up off the floor, but if you can do a few small things you'll feel like doing more. I can't read the flylady thread myself because although they are all really kind and friendly I find those lists of stuff they've done just completely overwhelming (and I'm a bad typist and I don't want to spend that long typing). My house is chaos but I find people on here SOOOO helpful and they motivate me to do stuff, but I do it very slowly - one step forward and half a one back. I have been very excited by baking Twinks hobnobs (if you use the search it'll find them) baking things seems to be such a positive thing to do - and cheap. So I just wanted to say - well done you for starting and hang in there !

  • morganlefay Thank you. I didn't do as well as I thought I was. Tried to do far to much and ended up completely overdoing it:( Slept 17 hours last night:eek:

On the up side the cakes turned out really well and DD was really pleased with herself. We make some butter cream to fill them with but didn't have any icing sugar so used caster sugar. It wasn't the best idea:rotfl:

My mum turned up today with her old breadmaker and loads of different flour and her old slow cooker thats the size of an estate car:eek: For some reason she brought a hand mincer as well. Not a clue what to do with that!

Alan What did you plant? One of my chillis is shrivelling:(
