Really need help please.

I hope it's ok to post here. We have always had a very comfortable income and been able to splash out a lot. However we have had a terrible few months (long story) and we are having to take stock, try to get our lives back on track and cut costs.
Thanks to this forum I have managed to make a lot of cuts and shopping and sorting the house are the final things. We are a family of 5 and used to spend about £600 a month on the food shop:eek: I also bought every expensive cleaning product known to man, not sure where they went though as my other problem is the state of the house:o
I have been really ill and housework has just been ignored so it looks like a bomb has gone off now.

Thing is I don't know where to start with it all:( After reading this board I have stocked up on stardrops, soda crystals and white vinegar but I just need help with it all. I'm feeling very overwhelmed.

Sorry for rambling and apologies if I shouldn't put this here:o

Sorry to hear about your problems.

Those three things sound a good idea from what I have read on here previously. If it is a case of knowing where to start with your housework I suggest you take a look at the Flylady thread I have been doing level one for a week and feel like I may have turned a corner thanks to the lovely peeps on there.

hope to see you on there

didn't want to read and run so good luck,

I would start small, make a list of 2 or 3 things you can achieve and then do them, that way you can cross them off and feel better about it,

try to get into a routine, have a short list for the morning and evening of the bare essentials like wash up after tea or get clothes ready for tomorrow, remember that you wont solve it all in one day and be kind to yourself

    xxx
Go hopefully into each new day, enjoy something from every day no matter how small, you never know when it will be your last
  • Thank you both. I did look at the flylady thread but it looks a bit scary and they all seemed to know each other so well I was a bit nervous of joining in.

I am trying to do a bit at a time but it never seems enough :(

That's always the case when you join a new thread I was new this week and made to feel really welcome. Believe me this thread isn't as scary as the actual American Flylady site - tons of emails put me off.

There are different levels on there I am sticking with level one for a couple of weeks to get into it. (trouble is I keep getting sidetracked) But you do as little or as much as you want. I have had shiny sinks all week and a clear landing and believe me that is a miracle in itself - but if hubby makes one more sarcastic comment about it then it may result in a divorce (then again I wouldn't give him that much pleasure lol)

  • Thanks I might try and join in, I'm just not good at pushing myself in. We have had to make so many changes and this one is the hardest.

Thanks for being so kind to a useless newbie:o

You are not a useless newbie at all. All you need to remember that there is no such thing as a silly question either as someone will always read it thinking I want to know that as well (usually me being too frightened to ask lol).

The one thing I have found on here is that everyone is friendly and really welcomes newbies.

i have been on these boards for a while and only really posted on 5 os pleasures thread. for a bit i have been popping onto flylady to look at the list of daily things to give me focus on what to do. last week i joined and they are all so friendly. even if you dont join, i would say look at the lists and try to do a week of level 1, it really does help. to my shame i have only done mondays this week!! :o but will be back on track next week. i hope to see you there!! :D

ps. good start with the the stardrops, soda crystals and vinegar. i use a mix of stardrops, vinegar and water for my kitchen. i use stardrops, bleach and water for the bathroom. vinegar and water for mirrors, windows etc. soda crystals go in my gloop or in with washing powder so you can use less and to clean washing machine and burnt pans!!! :p
  • I have just had a quick look and the plan looks great if I am able to stick to it.
Thanks for the tips on what to do with all the stuff I bought, DH asked what it was for and I wasn't really sure:o

    Hi Longtermlurker
You should come over to flyladies, they are a great bunch of lasses and the support you get on their is fantastic!! Once you have made your initial post it wont seem as daunting and everyone is really friendly.
Even if you dont manage to post every day at least try to look at the daily list and try to do something off it. If your house was anything like mine was the mess wasnt created in a week and wont be cleared in a week but if you do abit each day and get yourself into a routine you will soon make progress.
Huge hugz to you and I hope to see you over on flyladies soon
