Thanks to this forum I have managed to make a lot of cuts and shopping and sorting the house are the final things. We are a family of 5 and used to spend about £600 a month on the food shop:eek: I also bought every expensive cleaning product known to man, not sure where they went though as my other problem is the state of the house:o
I have been really ill and housework has just been ignored so it looks like a bomb has gone off now.
Thing is I don't know where to start with it all:( After reading this board I have stocked up on stardrops, soda crystals and white vinegar but I just need help with it all. I'm feeling very overwhelmed.
Sorry for rambling and apologies if I shouldn't put this here:o
Well Hello there :T
What I think peeps here are saying is '' baby steps'' - dont try to run before you can walk etc -
Do post on 'flylady' (you get a xmas tree as a newbie!) lol !
its a bit dazzling when you get your light bulb moment, isnt it? - its ok we have all been there and are still waiting on a deal to get the 't'shirt :money:... make yourself at home - ie get the kettle on lol ..& welcome to the family (aww shucks that even made me a bit soppy)

Stick around. There will always be [STRIKE]some of Zippy's questions [/STRIKE]something to giggle about on here.0 -
When I first started out my mission was to get the downstairs loo sorted. Its only tiny but after I had done it and it was all squeeky clean, hygenic and tidy I felt like I had achieved something and it only took me 20 mins!!! (Now it takes me 10 seconds every day as when i wake up in the morning I wipe the sink, wipe the toilet and give the bowl a quick brush) then once a week I sweep and mop the floor and clean the mirror) Once you have achieved something like I dont know cooking something from scratch or getting rid of all the carp from the kitchen table you will feel more and more motivated.

Thanks so much for posting . I too have looked at the Flylady thread and although they seemed a great bunch I was in awe of what they achieved! My house is disgusting and am ashamed of it. What's worse is that there is only me in it (apart from the mess pixies that come in whilst I'm at work). In my defence as well as working full time I occassionally do an evening at work and am also away at my boyfriends most weekends. it's an old house on a very busy road so that doesn't help either. It's like a vicious circle - I feel overwhelmed by what I need to do to get it ship-shape so I find excuses not to do it. So I get in from work and by the time I've eaten I feel like I've then got no energy or enough time to achieve anything meaningful.
So thanks for posting, you've made me feel better and motivated. Thanks to the other posters - maybe I will return to the Flylady and do level one?
Oh do do! I thought I would only manage level one! look at my post on there .. ok so let it slip at the end of the week - but you should see the diff even just level one & a few extras (my choice) have done!I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I KnowSupermarket Rebel No 19:T0 -
Thank you all again, you have made me cry now. In a good way though I can't believe how much support there is here and I really do feel I can actually do this.

You two do know that I can see your posts don't you?
Longtimelurker, Welcome! :hello: And ignore that pair of upstarts!I started doing flylady a while ago, but don't always have time to keep up with, or post on the thread. It's worth it, even if you only try level one. It made a massive difference for me when I felt overwhelmed by the house. Do pop in there and say hello....the regulars will make you very welcome.

Curlygirl - there is also a thread about FT Mums doing OS if it offers help to you ?
bless you - will take a look (although am not a mum so feel a bit of a plonker saying I can't cope with my cleaning when there is only my mess and no one else to look after !)0 -

Sorry Lurker. I'm very bad at being helpful. I distract easily.
Curlygirl, please don't beat yourself up about your house. You work very hard by the sounds of it. x
hhhmm I don't work any harder than anyone else - infact compared to some I have it easy. I'm great at making excuses and that's it! Anyway thanks to LTL and you all for a kickup the behind and a bit of inspiration. Will do kitchen and dining room tomorrow. A run to the tip with a car full of carp. Also need to do dining room as I actually have visitors coming round on Sunday! Gulp.
Night all
Love your sig BTW!0 -
