Hi Lurker :wave:
And welcome
Flylady can be a wee bit daunting at first.
But they are incredibly helpful and friendly lot
I haven't been over there for a while, but probably should return there for a bit, as it kinda looks like someone has ransacked my house, but forgotten to taken anything
:eek::rotfl:
I found though, when I was over there, that it was better to follow the lists, as opposed to following the thread, as it is incredibly fast moving.....
I found in the begining, that when I followed the thread, the lists never got done
If you start out with the first level, it really does help to keep you motivated
Good luck0 -
Hi Long Time Lurker,
Firstly, welcome! :T. Always nice to have more friends to talk to online and everyone here in the OS boards are lovely and helpful - even if you are asking stupid questions at an ungodly hour of the morning - there are still people about! :eek:.
I have found that (at the minute) I am struggling with housework and getting it all done (I'm 31 weeks pregnant) but boyfriend suggested writing a list and just doing what's on that list so I went to £1 land and brought a small white wipe board and I write on it each night before I go to bed the tasks for the next day.
I forgot to do it last night and woke up this morning to boyfriend dismantling an exercise bike that has been cluttering up our living room for months that he has sold back to his ex girlfriend so I had no excuse - it needed cleaning behind it as it had become a dumping ground. So 7am I was was cleaning this morning and I've only just sat down now to chill with my first cup of tea of the day! Its 90% done now bar moving a few things to the rooms they need to go into and I feel like I've accomplished something so I can cross it off now (which is the fun bit if you ask me!)
Also on my main list for today is
* moving Ben's teddy's back into his room
* tidying toys away in Ben's room
* clothes in our bedroom sorted and away
My little things list is everyday easy bits
* open windows to air rooms
* wipe round bathroom
* make beds
* at least load of washing on
* dishes
* wipe kitchen sides down
My optional extra's list is
* de clutter draws in house (5 in total and all full of !!!!)
* file paperwork away
* clear through airing cupboard
* sort through ben's toy box
The extras list is neither here nor there - if i get something on it done then great if not then oh well its their for another day.
The little things list i can do in the process of doing my main list. for example - my partner has deodorant, hair gel and aftershave left on the living room table so whilst i moved them to the bathroom , I opened the window, tidied the shelf in there and put out rubbish.
baby steps are the key to getting in a routine chick. Don't panic if your not kim and aggie straight away you'll get there in time and you'll wake up one morning ahead of yourself and be able to tackle a bigger task. I am hoping to start doing the dishes before I go to bed each night if there is any left over from supper so I know come the morning they will be dry and it will be one less task for me to do. xNewly diagnosed Type 2 diabetic - 3/2/23HB1AC 69 - 13/2/23 ____ HBA1C 46 - 4/04/2023Battling depression, diabetes, PCOS and severe social anxiety0 -
Hello
Just wanted to let you know that, although I don't follow flylady, even looking at the level one tasks was enough to get me motivated to do something about my mess and it has certainly improved thingsalthough I still have a huuuuge pile of washing up but hey!
I'm sure will feel much satisfaction in improving things little by little
Good luck!

That miracle has yet to happen in my household yet! It didn't even happen when I gave birth to my son 5 years ago! I left a completely immaculate house and there was only my boyfriend home, spent 4 days in hospital and came home to a pile of washing, a pile of dishes, dishes all over the living room and the rest of the house looked like a bomb had gone off. Plus my boyfriend has this weird thing about not opening windows or blinds so you can only imagine the smells! and there I was 19 with a 4 day old newborn. :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:Newly diagnosed Type 2 diabetic - 3/2/23HB1AC 69 - 13/2/23 ____ HBA1C 46 - 4/04/2023Battling depression, diabetes, PCOS and severe social anxiety0 -

Glad it's not just me then. My DH can't open curtains, the neighbours must think we are so lazy:rotfl: When my DH came to visit me in hospital after I had DD he brought the other 2 and was so proud that their clothes all matched until I pointed out they were in their pyjamas!You learn to love to liveYou fight and you forgiveYou face the darkest nightJust live before you die0 -
LTL - welcome and dont worry about the mess, it kind of comes with having a family and being ill compunds the mess exponentially! It has taken me YEARS to get my OH to do the housework and even now he cleans (well bless him he tries) and I go around and do it again. But it helps a bit.
If the house looks like a bomb has hit it (and ours does on a regular basis) can I suggest popping in on the decluttering thread too? Its not about doing the whole house at once, its about doing a bit at a time, so you can see what you need to do and what needs to go. As I found out moving to a bigger house doesnt actually help :rotfl:. The flyladies are great, I lurk around there but I confess they are all wonder women and I am not (my ironing pile is still on the chair............) but I love the OS recipes and having a family that can really eat it saves me a fortune.
Take care of yourself, as Zippy says its not a competition and we all do it differently, being happy and healthy is the most important thing. :jFree/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -
Thanks I hate the mess but I have trouble finding the motivation to do anything about it.
I have joined the flylady thread and the grocery challenge. Will look at the decluttering one as well;)
The recipies I have looked at are brilliant and some are a lot easier than I thought. Might bake a cake with DD later on.
Thanks again everyone for the advice.You learn to love to liveYou fight and you forgiveYou face the darkest nightJust live before you die0 -
