And PJs every day.. sorry but that's just ridiculous for something you sleep in!

why is that ridiculous when you've said you wash underwear daily? most people wear pj's 8 - 12 hours a day, perhaps longer than any other item so if they choose to wash them daily it is not ridiculous.

LOL I think Tiger is right Jacks. Seems like it's your teenager causing the most washing. I'm sure he'll soon create less if he has to do it himself, and he's certainly old enough to learn how to do that! :D

ok, we only do washings when enough for a wash usually when basket looks full:rotfl:.

put in washing basket daily are 1 kitchen cloth and tea towel, handtowel & all of our clothes, except jeans which may get 2 - 3 wearings out (but changed out of when come back in). towels every couple of days and bedding between 1- 2weeks.

we wash mostly at 40 degrees, except bedding 60 degrees economy. i am going to try 30 degrees to see if i notice a difference.

we mostly tumble dry due to health reasons but don't iron unless extremely necessary. ot sure how many washings we do as never counted them but if i leave it to one day it seems like hundreds

    Thanks Guys!

I think you're right that it's my son that generates the most washing. I've sorted the loads now and just from yesterday I have a set of work clothes, the outfit he wore to college that he got paint all over and his football training stuff plus yesterdays towels and flannels - so that's at least a load all to himself!

He is quite capable of throwing a load in the washer - he recently taught his 22 yo girlfriend how to use the washing machine at her place!

I guess I still do his laundry cos I'm doing it anyway and to make sure we only do whole loads - if he saved his washing up for a few days until he had full loads I'd have to invest in hazmat gear!

Honestly, I can hardly convey how smelly his clothes are after a days work or a gig where he's drumming. If he's on guitar he gets marginally less sweaty but cos of all that "skidding across the stage on his knees" business his jeans are usually filthy.

Even if he just goes out for the night he comes back sweaty and seemingly covered in beer! (Oh to be 18 again!) He could probably wear the jeans he wears when he has a quiet night with just his gf a few more times. I'll talk to him about that - and buy him his own bottle of Febreze!

The two T shirts thing is partly fashion but mostly practical. He's a very sweaty lad and wearing an undershirt stops the sweat marks showing through so quickly. All the lads he works with do it too. And we don't have any heating in our house so we all wear layers nine months of the year!

God I'm sorry this is so long!

Thanks a lot for making me feel welcome. :-)

    Love Jacks xxx

Just an interesting fact I heard on the radio this morning :
Only 45% of people dry their clothes outdoors in the summer, 55% carry on drying indoors.

I used to laugh at my Grandmother, she would never have a washing machine as they " washed holes into your clothes" Judging by the amount of washing some of you do I reckon she may well be right!!!!!!!

For goodness sake get a life, there are two of us and I do 3-4 loads a week. I do iron most things and certainly change underwear daily, but bedding every other day why??

Come and have a sniff of Oh and me we dont smell I can assure you and I have time to do allsorts of things instead of washing all day.

Yes I'm with you there maiden, 2 of us and 2 dogs, bedding once a week, towels get mixed in with clothes and I do one white wash, one beding wash and two coloured loads in a week, all at 40 degs. Other than that the dogs beds get done about once a fortnight which is two more loads as they are both large. Other half does ironing and doesn't include sheets etc and I still don't have enough time for everything!

I change stuff daily but I don't wash anything daily. I tend to wait for good weather and have a wash-fest then.

I never wear PJs, does that mean I should wash my sheets daily?

    probably, stompa! LOL

we wash 3-4 loads a week; try to never use our dryer, and clothes go in the basket when they are dirty, not before. We dont' stink, and unitl we have kids, won't need ot use the washer more than that. Excpet we now have a smaller washer! LOL

I'm with bumpybecky on this one! I wash undies and socks every day, also any clothes which are dirty or smell like they need a wash. Other clothes get done every 2-3 days. Towels and tea towels get done every week unless they need it sooner, and bedding every week/every other week, with my son's getting done twice a week.
