Electricity meter going backwards after installing Solar PV

Hi
I've had PV panels installed and I'm highly delighted, should payback in 5 years with my meter running backwards. The installer told them, and I ticked the box on my application form, so I'm sure it is there fault they have not changed my meter.
But what happens when they get round to changing my meter?
Will they back bill me? Does anyone have experience?
Thanks in advance. Derek0 -

Its upto you to inform your supplier, if you dont they can and will bill you right backDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0 -
my pv solar was installed Tuesday no one mentioned about letting energy supplier know but out of courtesy I did through web chat they said no problem despite me stating that meter running backwards. I emailed and then had a call very rude stating I was breaking the law I needed to have meter changed I have no problem with this. arranged an am appointment for 12 sept. I explained that I needed to take children to schoo so would be out 8.30-9 and have been told I am breaking the law denying them entry to meter if they come in that half hour and will force entry not very happy with EDF with attitude when out of courtesy I contacted them in the first place.0

That is shocking behaviour and I'm sure that what they're saying about forcing entry is also absolute rubbish. I believe that they CANNOT legally force entry except in case of emergency (such as a gas leak) - or, possibly, if they have a court order, which of course they won't. (They might threaten to bill you for a failed visit, but they have no justification to even do this when you have TOLD them that you cannot be there at that time.) I would be tempted to take up their complaints process and demand a formal apology for their rudeness and threats, which amount to bullying tactics.
They know you've got solar PV and they know how old your meter is; surely, if they were that bothered, it wouldn't be difficult for them to put two and two together and decide for themselves that the meter needed to be changed (or a backstop meter fitted). I think most suppliers just aren't bothering because we're all (supposedly) gong to be getting smart meters in a couple of years anyway.0 -
Hi
I did contact complaints department who have now arranged a two hour time slot and a credit towards our bill.
They did confirm that if they had turned up while I was out in the first instance I would have been charged 35 call out fee. They would then arrange another appointment and I agin I was not in would then contact the police for force entry as the meter is theirs not mine.
So that is the update from edf.0
