  • Hi all, just noticing alot of you have mentioned that you have rung:A :p head office to check if any in stock in your local area.. sorry to sound thick..... but still working on my dutch courage when asking for bargains of late.. getting there bit by bit tho heh.. so what do you actually say? ('i want the cheapo xbox's.. where is my nearest available one?!) do you need to quote the code mentioned above? 5 10676573413 and whats the telephone number (and open times [im so cheeky!])

    Thanks guys!!

    ??
  • Boots CS Telephone 0845 0708090 , sorry don't know their opening hours.
I phoned and asked if they could check my local stores, about 4 of them, for an item.

For Boots shops shopping experiences and queries related to product purchased in a Boots shop but not Advantage Card queries:

    Opening hours:
08:30 to 19:00 Monday to Friday
08:45 to 17:00 Saturday and Sunday
    Bank holidays 10:00 to 16:00

    UK customers phone 08450 70 80 90 (local rate)

I think that they will check your local stores but you will need to suggest which stores - giving them the item number would help (they can give you the Boots code for it, which helps the store to check for you).

Best thing to do if they show any stock of what you are looking for is to then ask them for that store's phone number and call them to check - but do ask them to look on the shelves as well as on the system as the two do not always match!

Well if you think about it you don't really need to tell them, just take your receipt and ask for a refund under their thirty day returns policy as soon as they've completed just say thanks and pick it up and walk to another till and buy it
AFAIK under these circumstances shops *CAN* choose not to re-sell merchandise to you. You returned it (presumably because you didn't want it) so why should they sell it again to someone who returned it? (Not sure where the law stands here exactly.) I don't think they will though.

It might be best to be upfront saying you want to bring it back for a refund and to re-buy at the reduced price. You can imagine the face of a member of staff light up as you return the Xbox and they give a refund of £75, and they *know* it is £10. They shove it behind the counter and it is instantly "sold", or they have to check it before they can sell it etc.

GAP gets around this problem by offering a one time price alteration. If any item you purchase gets reduced within 2 weeks they will give a refund on the price difference. I personally think it's just a ruise to get you back into the store and increase the chance you'll buy something now, but, as with anything, it's worth taking advantage of if you can.

I paid £74.99 for one of the ones in Gloucester. I'm still happy with it at that price, I could have waited and never got one at all. In reality I didn't pay a penny for it as I paid using my Advantage card points :)
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
